Title: My Latest Fuel Related Problem
Post by: Glennman on February 07, 2026, 06:15:08 PM
My fuel filter is filling with black stuff. I went all winter with a half tank so now (I believe) I am harvesting diesel bugs or algae. The fuel level in the see through cap would ride about 1/4 of the way up, but one day I checked it and it was all the way to the top. Apparently, the way it works is the fuel gets deeper as the filter plugs. I changed the filter and drove the bus about 30 miles and it's already working its way up again. I ordered a case of 6 filters (they aren't in yet) and picked up 2 quarts of Clear Diesel by Power Services. I plan to dump in one quart (good to treat 100 gallons), drive the bus to the fuel station, then dump in the other quart. Any ideas on this?

You need to polish the fuel check for a company in your area for the service, if not build your own with a pump from Amazon, I use a pump and 2 house type water filters in line to clean fuel then i use Sea Foam, the black stuff is hard to get rid of just using a additive alone. Gary's (BCM)new bus from FL has it in the tank (220 gal).I stay away from the cheaper 20% bio fuel for that reason 1 fuel filter will offset the price between the 2 fuels ,does you bus have the Fuel/Pro 320 fuel processor? they help control the black bug

I do have a fuel/water separator system similar to a Davco (I believe it's a Detroit model). The "polishing" process you speak of, is it simply pumping the fuel out and right back in while going through filters? That sounds doable. Thanks luvrbus!

You know they have Alage farms growing the stuff for making bio diesel fuel I avoid the 20% bio fuel like the plague
