In researching my crazy air bag leveling situation on our DL3-45, I gave Chat GPT 5 a shot. It was quite interesting. I gave it a very specific question, and limited it to our MCI coach model.
The results came back with a LOT of interesting detail, and offered to diagram the layout, and diagram how the parts operated. So far so good. Until I realized that the chat engine response did not limit itself to the MCI bus as I had requested. It branched out to solutions based on other buses and RVs, throughout the response.
As we know, AI is not perfect. It did provide some interesting ideas, and descriptions. I found it did get me to consider some other possibilities and ways to test things out. Also, AI will give references in its response, so if you find the response for your GM bus is built from an MCI document source, give it a good deal of skepticism. I would say it's best to use it with caution, and keep an understanding of 'safety and per-spec' / da book - - first! This forum and members are still an excellent resource and place to share bus information and help others. Thank you Gary Hatt. :)
Anyone else give AI a try while working on your bus? How did it go?
Kind Regards, Phil
I have used AI for looking things up, but never about my bus. However, I do use AI to write the introduction for each article and for a description of the advertisers I sent out in our weekly Newsletter. It is great for summarizing articles and reviewing a company's website to provide a summary of their products and services.
