Last week we had the rack run on our 6V92. Jack told me that it was pretty far out of adjustment we took it for a test drive and I noticed a big differance Jack said he thought it was running real well I told him it is alot better and ask him to go to the back of our Eagle and see if he could here the turbo. He said he didnt here it I told him I didnt think it had been working I had no boost showing on my gauge. Sunday I took a look at the turbo every thing checked out. I took the top off the blower off to check the screen and found the gasket was blown in 2 places. I made a new gasket and tried to put it back together. It would not set flat on top the blower. There were 2 bolts in the center of the blower holding it up about an eighth of an inch. I looked at another 6V and those bolts had not been installed, I removed them and it fit correctly. Now with 10 to 12 lbs. of boost our 45' Eagle runs like its on a rail. I thought I would share this story in the event that somebody might have this problem and remember to check a $2 gasket and to make sure that those bolts are removed if there not you will break the corner off that top blower part, I know from experiance I broke mine but lucky I have a spare 6V I could rob this pricey part from. Does anyone know is this part called the blower cover....
Thanks Andy,
Thats great luck...I'll have to check mine out.

Well, I made it till 9:49 w/o asking a dumb question, so here it is:
I thought that when I switched to an engine with a turbo that I'd be able to hear the turbo whistle.....but I don't. But hey, I'm 40' away......
can you guys running 6V92's and 8V's hear the turbo from the drivers seat going down the road?
I don't think you should hear the turbo whine. If you do, you have a leak.
Course if the leak is very much, you will make a lot of black smoke.
My 8V92TA will boost more than 25 pounds if I make it.
The turbo is really all you hear (almost) in my MC9. The turbo isn't leaking, not to the outside anyway, but it is audible from the driver's seat. I like hearing it. Sounds like a truck engine.
Maybe an Eagle has more soundproofing?
Andy, did you just drive thru Charlotte, NC within the last week? I saw an Eagle very similar to yours last week on Hwy 74 headed towards the beach....or eastern NC anyway. Was that you'uns? If not you, reckon who it was? Sort of an orange/red Eagle?

How can I check my turbo boost? 8V71TA non-ddec
Chuck, just buy a boost gauge, run 40 feet of small DOT air brake line from the engine to the gauge.
There's a plug in the the blower housing just below (and to the rear on my 6V92) of the turbo mount for a boost gage. You could set up a short hose and pull the upper hatch and just lay the gauge there. Have someone watch it for you. I'd use an electrical gauge/sender if you want a dash unit.
There are probably unused leads in the rear junction box for dedicated boost gauge. If you are not using the OEM AC, one of the unused AC wires could be used as sender lead.
Best, JR
Where would a person buy the elec. boost gauge and sending unit?
When you check your boost its best to be driving so you have your engine under load. To answer yor question you should be able to hear that sweet sounding whistle from your turbo but at 40 -45 feet it will be faint you know with age some peoples hearing isnt as good as us young pups. LOL.
I only hear my turbo when I'm going through tunnels. I'm well insulated, so I open a window.
Thats my time to check the thing out and I usually give the throttle a couple of plunges
and, when I hear the whine, All is well..

Nick, I'll bet you check the airhorns too, just to make sure they are working correctly! ;D ;D ;D

Any gauge manufacturer such as Isspro, Stewart Warner, and companies such as US Coach, IBP, CIP, and local auto supply stores (Auto Zone, Parts America, NAPA) sell electric turbo boost gauges and senders.
