Title: torque on 740 bolts

anyone know the torque on the 1/2 in bolts on the flexplate to the torque converter on a 8v92 to a ht740 transmission the only place in my Eagle book says 40# and i don't think that is right                thanks

95 to 115 ft lbs IIRC, I don't have a manual at the present, so someone else please verify-

This has been discussed before on one of the BBs and I think the answer was that this is the pre-torque before turning the fastener xx degrees to achieve final torque.

In the Allsion manual that I had, it just had the torque setting for the bolts. It wasnt a two step process.

My manual says 96-115 ft.lbs.

This is for an HT 748, but should be the same.

I found out why the 40# torque was in my Eagle book but don't know what its all about a #1 starter ring gear torques to 96# to 115# a #2 starter ring gear torques from 40# to 48# i have the 1/2 inch bolts and it recommends the 96#to 115# i found a great site for Allison Transmissions its www.utxchange, thanks for the help guys
