Title: batteries again
Post by: bigred on March 04, 2023, 07:28:31 AM
The more I read the more confused I get on how to charge the 24V battery bank on my 93 Prevost. To jump the bus off ,the OM says to hook the red cable to the terminal on the 24V cut off switch and the black cable to the chasis ground . My question is ,can I use this same hook up to charge the batteries and if so ,should the switch both the 12V and 24V switches be on or off??  The guy at Prevost said it SHOULD work but did not sound very convincing to me .

? are you using a 24v charger or a 12v charger. you can charge each battery individually with a 12v charger. The batteries are 24v when tied together in series, each battery is 12v even in series ,I would charge ea battery separate,if you mess up and hit the ECM supply wire with 24v the ECM is fried it's 12v only on your bus
