Sonja is going to Texas for a few weeks or so, I tried finding tickets you won't believe the BS in flying now on low cost air lines with baggage.LOL Frontier allows 1 small carry on. Get this a woman purse classifies as carryon luggage on Frontier. I never heard of that, they want 60 bucks each way for her suitcase. I paid 100 bucks more for her to go on Southwest without all the crap and no layovers. What is happening in this world
glad to hear she did not go on Spirit. Get this. You buy the ticket. OK. But then you can't get on the plane until you buy a SEAT on the plane! That is no BS. Airlines are making so much money it makes hogs look anorexic.
I wouldn't get on a plane these days with all the angry and stupid people on them. We watched Icrimes the other night and t showed a bunch of cell phone videos of people fighting others in the air and the marshals having to handcuff them and then remove them from the plane.
One woman spit in the face of a guy because she wanted the window seat but according to her ticket her seat was on the aisle but she kept it up until she was taken off the plane after she smacked the guy in the face. There are a lot of flippin crazies out there. Be careful out there.

When I was flying so much everyone was happy on the plane maybe the free drinks and meals helped :^. I would fly Southwest from Houston to Dallas in the 70's for $29.00 round trip and get a free bottle of Scotch with each trip not a miniature but a 5th
DeWar's ? :^

I considered Spirit when I was flying from Dallas to Columbus, Ohio recently. They quoted the cheapest fare by far, but when you actually go to buy the ticket they charge an amount almost to the level of the basic fare for one carry-on, and more for checked luggage. The seat charge is not so much for the seat, but the ability to select a seat where you want it. The choice seats, in somebody's view, cost more. If you don't buy a seat choice, then you are sitting in the middle seat near the tail. I ended up going American Airlines without those rip offs for only a little more for a direct flight instead of an eleven hour stayover in Orlando.
I flew American many miles,I could order tickets before the electronic age took us over and American would deliver the tickets and boarding pass with the seat you requested to the office. You could walk into the terminal 10 minutes early and board no 2 hour early BS like today .Times have changed they would question you about no luggage years back and now they don't want you have luggage. This world confuses me now.
The problem is that all you guys look like terrorists.
They ALWAYS make me sit in back. But it is the only way I can fly with my emotional support Anaconda....

I firmly believe that the brats who misbehaved on the school bus grow up and misbehave on airliners. I still say get rid of the overhead bins. If it doesn't fit under the seat, check it. It takes so much time waiting for people to stuff and unstuff those bins.

Makes no sense to pay $60.00 for a bag to go into the overhead bin either What the hell can a woman going on a 2 week trip take in a max size bag 15x8x10 that fits under the seat. Fly a good airline that will check your bag JetBlue,Frontier and Sprit probably even have a fee for that lol you cannot even get bottle of water for less than 3 dollars on those so called airlines, I won't ever even waste my time on those again.People get pissed because of service mostly and packed into tiny seats with no room to move around
We now live in the day when airlines run line McDonalds or is it Burger King - "have it your way" and the dollar value menu. Trying to compete by offering just what the customer wants. You want cheap you get little. You want more, you pay more. All business these days have to survive in an ultra competitive marketplace, plus the expanded globe all wanting a piece of profits too.
If you want regulated business and prices, have at it. not for me.

I don't like it either but I only fly once a year at most and pretty much exclusively on DELTA. I just have a bag that I check and one small one for under the seat. But many people travel on business so chances are, they put everything on the expense account anyway. I agree that some flight attendants can act like they are in training to be North Korean prison guards but some passenger still don't know how to behave. In other words just take a deep breath and roll with the punches. Or take ground transportation. I actually enjoy flying and once I get past the TSA nonsense, it goes pretty well for me.
Some people now are just nasty and disrespectful in our world today, and the furture is not looking any better. I was talking to young man about keeping my grass mowed and was amazed when he called me Mr. and answered me with yes sir and no sir and every other word out of his mouth was not the "F" word it all begins at home. A nice young man he is home schooled and never been to a public school in his life and is almost 16 years old and planning his future. His dad is a doctor here and is on the school board.
Yes it does begin at home. Of course government schools don't do a blasted thing to help matters.
My in laws just arrived. Flew from Jersey to Atlanta. Flew Spirit. Airfare was tiny, but they just packed one bag because they are driving back. It weighed 52 pounds. They knew the USUAL limit is 60 pounds. Got spanked $69 for overweight since Spirit is 40 pound limit. They could have packed one bag each and paid nothing...
Just makes you want to keep coming back doesn't it...
We fly Delta since we fly out of Atlanta. Just pay what they ask. Bring what we want. Get the seats they said we could have. Too old to worry about saving $34 dollars.
Why would anybody fly Sprit they don't even have seat cushions on the plastic seats

Clifford, you are mistaken. Just like you pay for a seat, you pay extra if you want a padded cushion. Hey, it's a deal at only $4.99. But it's $5.99 if you want a clean one.
Like Ted says, other airlines might have a bit higher prices but the price includes things like the seat and a cushion and being able to bring a decent sized carry on. It's a lot like buying a stripped down fleet vehicle rather than selecting a trim level up that includes things like power door locks and power windows.

Clifford you said it ALL right there! Dad is on the school board, but yet he had
HIS child "HOME SCHOOLED!"Nothing says the school system is a failure better than that! LOL! (OH but I agree 100% with the dad if ya want your child to get a proper education, do it yourself!)
;D BK ;D
Here's another cheap airline story that happened today. Last year we were traveling from CA to NY by plane. We booked with Jetblue mainly because it was a non-stop flight. I found out that if I got their Trublue credit card the baggage would be free, so that more than paid for the annual fee of $99. They also gave me 50,000 travel points, theoretically worth $600 in tickets. One of the benefits they told me was that the points were transferable. Today I tried to transfer 30,000 points to my daughters account since she uses them regularly. The website is very buggy, so it took me a half hour just to do that. Once done, I got a confirmation email, but it had a small print line that said they were charging my credit card $375 ($.0125 per point) for the privilege of transfering the points. It took me another hour on the phone to get the transaction reversed.
I commented to the agent that it was absolutely insane to charge me for the points transfer, and she told that it really was crazy. Thankfully she really worked on getting it taken care of.
That is insane I have a Southwest Rewards Card I have had for 30 years and never saw a charge for transferring points to my daughter. Only reason I have the Southwest card is because with it there were no blackout dates or advance booking when using your points to fly and Southwest still honors the senior discount with the card I used it today to send Sonja to Texas. Only reason I was checking airline prices my miles are about gone after all these years.
