I just recently added a Mid Drive Electric Motor to my old Mountain Bike.
I have always carried this bike in the bay to run around the campgrounds on.
I used a Bafang BBS02 750W with a 48V 13ah Battery.
The installation kit was very complete and even included some of the specialty tools used in the installation.
Took me about 2 hours to complete the install.
I am quite happy with the result, although there is a mode to just use the throttle, I really like the pedal assist mode.
I can easily do 25 to 30 mph on it, but am much happier at 5 to 15 mph, going up hills is a breeze, I have done rides of up to 20 miles and the battery indicator barely moved off full.
Where I might have taken the Toad to the store or the ranger station before I am now riding the bike, even though it is electric you are still pedaling and get exercise, the difference is, if you get worn out you can just push the throttle and go.
There are pedal assist levels from 0 thru 9, 0 is no assist and 9 is doing 20 mph barely pedaling, I mostly use levels 2 or 3.
The off road part of the Mtn Bike is also great, I can climb hills and cover ground I never would have before, makes this overweight, old man feel great riding like that.
I just need to get the wife riding one of these and we could leave the Toad home.

Plenty Cool. Bought 2 Folding Zizzo Campo Bikes a few months ago to put under camper, haven't even taken them out of the box and changed my mind on them. Have both for sale here on the sale forum but might rethink the deal if a motor will mount up to them.
Do they have a twist grip throttle?

Do they have a twist grip throttle?
The throttle is a thumb lever next to the right side handle grip.
The shifter on my bike for the 7 rear gears is a twist shift also on the right grip.
There is a twist throttle available, I've only used the throttle once or twice, the pedal assist is enough go for me.

Don't see any reason why a BBS02 kit would not mount right on them.

You still need the Toad!!!
I did two seasons with the just the e-Bike and it's was very limiting!!!
This year I brought the car with me and hey a heck of lot more civilized living experience!!!

I still prefer my Harley with keys and push button starter with no pedals and 50MPG. plus, no extension cord
It's a bitch getting that in and out of the luggage bay though.
Jim
I can just see it in the rain..>>>D
When running an antique but a toad is a prerequisite for part runs... Lol
Electric? Could see a bike. Cruise around the Camp Grounds. Car,,No. Heck it's over 900 miles across Texas from Orange to El Paso. Take you 3 0r 4 charges if running the AC or Heater to make it across. Cliff, Harley makes a Electric Motor Scooter. "Livewire". 150 miles on a charge. Takes 11 hours to charge the thing for 150 miles range.
You need a towed, and folding bicycles. 2001 Jeep Wrangler. Great for errands, exploring off road, and will go 70 mph on the freeway. Bicycles for closer exploring and exercise.

I am not ready for a E cycle Harley yet Glen I still like the vibration between my legs :^
Honda Trail 70.

EWAN MCGREGOR & CHARLEY BOORMAN Rode a couple of Harley Davidson Livewires from the tip of South America to Los Angeles 13,000 miles, the bikes actually ran quite good, took a bit of preplanning to make sure they had charging stations spaced out along the way.

What Chessie said.
I hate towing a car. We have rented a car a few times if staying somewhere for a while.
I planned to fold down the handle bars and stuff it in the belly of the bus. Then I remembered I am not Chessie. I only have one belly bay that does not already have things built into it. So I put it on a rack on the back of the bus. It is street legal with a plate so I can get parts if needed. But mostly, just get the laundry at the campground laundromat or ice cream for the Rita.
Do these E- Bikes come with a beaney and one of those cute little propellers on top? Asking for a friend.😉
I'm seriously considering not having a car with me when I'm using the bus. As a life-long cyclist I'm not intimidated by riding a bike to do errands, and I'm going to build a foldable trailer for larger items that I can pull behind my bikes. When my bus is completed (are bus conversions ever complete?) I'll have space inside for four of my bikes and the folding trailer, then as long as I'm within ten or so miles from stores etc I'll ride a bike instead of needing a toad. Another reason for doing this is because my car cannot be flat-towed at all, and I don't want to faff about with a car trailer. Besides, I like riding: it's fun, it keeps me fit and healthy, and it's cheap!
John
I have a Jeep Liberty as a toad, but since I like to ride cycles--- I now have a baby Ranger too!
My thought is that I can get the new 2022 CB500X in the back of the ranger and have several options.
The mountain bike is nice for campgrounds but takes up way too much room in a bay, so it may go in the Ranger too.
I just can't imagine hauling much of anything in the rain on an e-bike!
Lot of folks enjoy riding and peddling, Sonja is one of those she has always love to ride a bike lol me I prefer starter button, I do ride with her sometimes if she makes a short run like a couple of miles. Now people that push E bikes and EV cars for environmental reasons that drive a bus with the most polluting engine ever built (DD 2 Stroke) those I do not understand.
most polluting engine is early Mack's and 50 through late 60's Chrysler slant sixes.

The Mack Thermodyne wasn't a bad engine for pollution.it had a turbo and for 195 hp those were working little devils with the triplex transmission. Tenneco had 4-B-61's under lowboy's I loved it when I got a chance to drive one when the driver was MIA.2 strokes are bad because they fire every revolution.

A bit of a guilt trip?
Anyway if it has more than four tires, has a propeller or fire in it's @$# it's time to burn a bunch of dinosaurs!!!!

It will be a long time before old DINO is laid to rest.,when the DOE takes the restrictions off of the BIO % you will see 50% bio diesel, the newer engines are already to accept the 50+% bio mix, some European countries are running 80 to 100% now .In this great nation it all revolves around politics takes years for something to happen that most countries can do in weeks. We do some dumb things here, they have 5 hydro dams on the addenda to come down. They are going to need something to replace the lost power on the already overloaded grid with what?. The current bushes here in the desert are not much help
Do you think Hells Angels will like they're EV Harley Davidson's ? Wonder if they will sound as good LOL.

Nothing like a little vibration and noise to calm the soul in a screwed up world.LOL you don't get that on a E bike :^ :^
I think the World Economic forum leaders should take a EV private (jet) and set out over the pacific ocean if you know what I mean.

Wonder if they (The Mighty Hell's Angels) could put/clamp playing cards on the frames of the Electric Harley's so the spokes make a little noise.
What we use to do as kids.

Has anybody thought about how much everyone's electric bills are going up due to supply and demand? Also grid updates i.e charging stations, windmills, solar farms etc at what cost? How is it funded we the people are going to pay for it with higher taxes higher electric bills all costs will be passed on to the end user. How about EV semi's how much are they going to cost and the juice to run them just like diesel prices right now is doing to say are grocery bills all costs going to be passed on. The electical utopia is bologony.
The bad dudes have already figured it out how to bring this nation to a standstill. just look at what happen in South Carolina when they took out a sub station.stay tunned there more to come. Our power company ask for 4.5 rate increase from the State of AZ it was granted WTH by bill went up by 8 % after the increase. It would not do any good for me to install solar, now they charge you to tie into the grid to sell the unused power back
Course electric rates will have to rise building sufficient infrastructure. I can see $1.00 a kw hour in future.

At a dollar a kilowatt payback on a off-grid solar system will be six months including battery storage.
don't think it'll be that simple.
When they roll out the roll out fuel cells it'll be a game changer. Imagine being able to roll out roll roofing onto your house and plug that in to your electrical system. That is on the way, it will be to profitable not to sell to the public.
Jim
Yeah, ok.
