I haven't really had much of a chance to look into this yet, but from the last time I drove the bus (2002 MCI, Series 60) I don't believe my fast idle works, or it is stuck on all the time. The switch doesn't do anything, and when I release the brake, the RPMs drop what seems to be a huge amount. I do recall the switch working at some point in the past. I've had pretty good success with the MCI 1-800 number for tech support. Does it hurt anything if the fast idle is on all the time? I know I will need to fix it regardless.
The fast idle switch gathers dust on a charter coach, always left on, so no worries in that regard.
Something is grounded... start with the back of the switch, pull the wires off, hopefully it isn't any deeper than that!
Happy coaching!

The fast idle goes through the cruise control try turning it off and on again and tapping the coast, you may have tapped the cruise control setting the idle speed higher happens a lot lol one good thing at more RPM the series 60 won't rattle the windows.

I would try that, but I don't have cruise control (I wish I did!). I probably screwed something up when I was dealing with the wheelchair lights and the safety functions that redundantly caused half the bus to not work.
Someone please grab his wire cutters lol!

Yep you create a lot of problems cutting the multi plex wiring the computer may send 4 different functions through 1 single wire ,the DDEC has always been a Multi Plex even if the bus it's self is not.You have a cruise control it is just missing in action at this point time and patience, and you need both.

I wish you would have said this before I cut all those wires! The dilemma I created from that set me back about 6 months on the conversion. I got to the point where I didn't want to put any extra effort or money into the bus until I was sure I would get it to run again! With the exception of a few minor issues (such as fast idle issues), I'm on an upward trajectory.

Did you ever ask before cutting the wires ? the problem you have now is the glitch on the Detroit side or the OEM side that can get frustrating and time consuming but hang in there you are not the 1st it happen too ,a lot of J's get parted out because of the wiring got hacked.
DON'T CUT THE WIRES!!!
Just pull the percussion cap out of the explosive, then remove the explosive to a safe distance. Put something thick between you and the percussion cap. Now if it goes off at least it won't kill you.
Most percussion caps have 2 wires. If there is only 1 percussion cap you can cut either wire and then there is no way for it to go off.
If there are any extra wires going to the explosive or the cap, call the bomb squad.

:^like.... I had to rebuild a fire destroyed wiring harness from scratch. took more time than rest of conversion.. Got to know schematics pretty good by end... Bob

Guys that know and work on multiplex systems are in a class of their own, they are computer nerds and electricians all in one package lol the old fashioned systems is best for me 1 hot and a ground works ,splicing on some multiplex wiring systems can get above my pay scale with the certian amount of twist and special connectors.
I'll bet there are many regretting the day they threw away the instructions for that brand new wire cutter lol. My favorite tools are a schematic, soldiering iron and cnippers. Not many jobs I've enjoyed more than the name my own price ones. ;)
