Anyone?
Just got ours (RV account) stupid fast speeds thus far. That makes two additional things this year to give thanks for, so when I kick Dish to the curb before the end of the year make it 3. Besides not slamming my fingers in a bay door, sorry Ted lol!
Gobble gobble
Everyone! :D
Van,
It's been a month - is it still a winner? Is it easy to setup when you reach your destination? We have Starlink at home and it's been a good deal - other than the last time I checked I couldn't connect to a static IP address.
Thank you!, Phil

We haven't moved around yet but the set up is still working good. Peak hours will show slower up/download speeds as per the speed test on the app but haven't really had any issues on our end. Heavey rains will knock out the signal but only for a bit. Our usage includes internet for our laptop, cell phones and smart tv's. Still consider it more reliable than the cell signal here. Set up still easy as long as you have an unobstructed view to the North.
Overall still giving it a two thumbs up :^ :^ In the event of temporary outages we still have the ability to use one of the phones as a hot spot.
Mine didn't miss a minute during snow 30 below wind chill. Ice cicles 12inches long hanging from it.
I do have a StarLink dish but haven't really exercised it yet as I am currently in a RV park with 200MB fiber internet to my site. My cousin did use it a lot in Wyoming where I had it first delivered before there was an RV option...
Kicking around idea's to have it on the roof where it will auto extend when I am parked.
I am sort of chicken about asking my business partner if I can spend another $2,500.00 for the official flat mount in motion dish for my RV/Motorhome. Though that might save me from expending a fair amount of brain power...
$2,500, but that's for in-motion? Looks like it's considerably less w/o the in-motion option at $600 for a portable setup. Certainly more than we paid for the stationary at home setup. Either way, their in motion is much less than it was a few years ago when I checked another service. At that time it was almost a five figure amount, around $9k.
Kind Regards, Phil
Having used Starlink for a bit, the concept of perm mount is overblown. Just like solar, you need to be aware of where you park and the view of the sky. My experience indicates SL is more sensitive than solar panels. During the summer, you don't need much sky to grab a few solid hours of direct sun to get a decent boost. SL uses more of the sky to latch onto sats. I would say solar placement in winter is similar to SL.
I put my dish on the ground where it gets the best signal. Put a chair behind it to reduce chance it gets run over. I also have a 14' fiberglass pole that I have used in places where up is the best option to grab more sky but it takes more effort to set up so ground is easist.
