Hello All,
New to this forum. I bought A/C Transit Bus 942 and i am starting the long repair and cleanup process. I am looking for a drivers-side rear window. contacted a couple of custom auto glass places and the cost is astronomical. I have the passenger side, but if someone has a pair, or at least a source for these. I am also looking at the channel rubber for all windows. Please let me know.
V/R,
Aaron
Aaron -
Your former A/C Transit bus has what GM called their "Clean Air Package," which consisted of the exhaust tailpipe on the driver's side, the large center rear glass window, and the engine air intake on the passenger side.
Curved Glass Distributors may still carry the rear center glass, but don't be surprised if they say it's no longer available. Another option, of course, is to find another fishbowl in a boneyard that hopefully has an unbroken center section. Be aware that this piece has double curves - L to R and T to B.
Luke at US Coach in NJ won't have the glass, but chances are good he'll have the rubber window gasket. He's the best source for old GM bus parts, so if he doesn't have it, or can no longer get it, then it becomes much more of a challenge. His number is 856-794-3104, M-F, 9-4 Eastern.
The side windows can easily be replaced by any competent auto glass company, once you take the frames off the coach and disassemble them.
Oh, and to better help us help you, please take a couple of minutes to edit your profile's "signature" to include your bus year, make and model, plus your home city and state, similar to mine below. That can help us better direct you to help and perhaps discover other busnuts in the same vicinity.
Welcome to the madness!

Hi Aaron I have that glass and weather stripping that you are needing. I have a 5307 parts bus, biggest problem is I am in Canada and it is winter here. To remove the glass would be impossible. I need to check if the 5307 glass is the same as a 5303 as I think i have a 5303 4 piece back window. The glass might be the same. Luke might know. where are you located?
Paso
Pretty sure they are the same
Paso One,
That's great news! I am currently located in San Antonio. The bus is in Pasadena undergoing the necessary repairs to transport to TX and get legal registered. Understand about the Canadian winter....lived up in Alaska for a couple of years. Willing to work the details during the winter and then ship come spring. Ideally it would be mid to late march.

When I saw the picture of your bus, it was like I was transported back 20 years. I had an almost identical bus that was converted to an RV. Same color, even the wheels were orange (yours looks a little more reddish). We spent many years driving the countryside with it. Hope you have a good time with it.
