Ted is actually about to work on his engine.
Get your children in the basement!
My bus has a lot of belts. Almost all of them look great. Two have a few cracks. And of course they are the ones all the way at the back of the cluster I have to take off the get to them. I know how to loosen the belts going to the alternators. My question is about the three big belts (closest to the back of the bus) going to the spindle that runs the shaft to my the box to the cooling fan. There is what looks like an adjustment bolt with a place in the middle of it to tighten or loosen. Guessing that is belt tension. Can I loosen that enough to get the belts off or do I have to take something else apart once I slack the belts?
Hi Ted
I just stepped outside and looked at mine. Even in the same model year there is a vast amount of difference between your bus and mine.
It's weird that your 6V92 bus has:
1. Dash air-conditioning compressor
2. 12V alternator with two belts
3. 24V alternator with one belt
4. Radiator fan with three belts that has a spring tensioner
On my bus 8V71 I have:
1. 12V alternator with one belt
2. 24V alternator with one belt
3. Dash air-conditioning compressor
4. Radiator fan with three belts with a solid link tensioner
Back to your original question just back off the tensioner for the three radiator belts.
I saw reference to a belt that has the three belts combined as one. But I think that was a short lived item that appeared on some newer Prevost's...
Yep. I have more belts than a fashion girl.
Just need one of the master jedi wrench guys to tell me if I twist that belt tensioner on the 3 belt set up, will it let me get those belts off so I can get the 2 at the back.

Yep back it off that is why it has tensioner
Thanks LUVRBUS and Fred.
Hey Fred. I got to see Robert Glines bus last summer. He has no belts on his Prevost! Some things he invented that of course work well. He also has 3 slides he put in himself. He has helped me quite a bit and I'd jump on a grenade to save his life, but don't ya still hate that a little?? His own slides? Really?
I'll just change these cracked belts and go back to the underachiever bench....
It was there. Just hiding in plain sight. On 60 serries there is other drive sources than off crank. Bob...
