And that is why I take all of my buses to JC Refrigeration in Shipshewana Indiana. It is all they do. They have a great product, it is not Dometic or Norcold, and it works on electric or propane. Changes over all by itself!
And I can speak from experience that if you have any issue, they back their product with no labor charge.

(But take a bunch of Benjamins if you go there)

Thedford has been owned by Monomoy Investment for a couple of years those type owners just raid a company and then shut it down it is the American way now.My son has a PolorMax fridge that has a Norcold label that is made in China, a 4500.00$ fridge that never works

I have a bad taste in my mouth with Norcold I'd like to share:
Back in the early 80s having purchased our bus for full time living- my mom & dad gave us a Norcold chest fridge/freezer that ran on 110V & 12V for Christmas. That unit in full service last us almost 20 years at a cost of $375 from Sears. With that being said we immediately replaced it with a similar new slightly larger Norecold @ a cost of $900+ The 2nd unit didn't make it 3 years. Still having faith in the durability of our 1st unit we again replaced it with a Norcold. Well the 3rd unit gave us just over a year of operation and that's when we gave up with everything Norcold & never looked back. Since then our luck is very good with Dometic - both in Fridge/freezers, Fridge, & Air Conditioner, not just in durability but also efficiency. Just sharing an experience...

I never had much luck with Dometic but will say the one in Sonja's van which had no type electronics lasted many years (since 1989) but Dometic parts are a real PITA to get for some models

I use Nova Kool 9cu/ft. It has automatic 12v/120v switch over, compressor is on the bottom with venting out the front of the unit. No roof vent or side wall access door is needed. Very reliable, but you do have to defrost every couple of weeks. Just put in a towel under the cooling coils, turn it off and in a couple hours is defrosted. It ain't cheap though-about $1500. They also make a two compressor unit that truly makes the refrigerator and bottom freezer separate-really expensive at $2500. Good Luck, TomC

10-4. I'd choke before I purchased a new one. I've been depending on the Indiana Amish to keep mine running.  :^
