Title: interior light bulb question
Post by: Tedsoldbus on October 28, 2022, 11:48:21 AM
I took out the fried light bulb over the stairwell. Made the usual rounds with auto parts guys since I was in town. And got the usual "They don't make that anymore..."
I found a bulb that has pins that lined up with the old bulb at Home Depot. It is of course LED but thought why not try it. Pins fit in the very little holes perfectly. Switch to "on". Beautiful bright light for a nano second. Burned it out.
It was little. And said 10 wats on it. Also said 12 volt on it.
There are a bigger wattage bulbs that the pins line up the same. Will it fry those too? Are the little interior lights 12 or come off 24 volt? I thought surely not 24 for little lights?

Is that the bulb shaped like an oversized glass fuse?

If so, Luke has them.

Even if it's not that one, call Luke. He has a good supply of all these odd-size bulbs.

Put your multimeter into the fixture and confirm for sure.

Everything was 24 volts, in a 24 volt bus...

Happy coaching!

Thanks guys. Good advice as always.

Bob Glines might have a few but I will call Luke Monday. I just hate to scavenge a rare thing from another busnut. (unless he has 3 boxes of them!)

It has a number on it but I will probably take a picture or mail Luke this one so we match up.

I know I have to have patience with this 43 year old bus that I love, but I am just trying to change a light bulb!
