What's up with mobil delvac 1240 cf-2 oil. I bought 2 cases from Summit Racing in March for 22.49 gal. Now they list it for 73.99
https://www.summitracing.com/parts/mob-104056
and they don't even have it in stock.
I guess I can switch to Shell rotella T1 cf2 40wt $21.99
https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/shell-rotella-t1-sae-40-550054466/12202416-p?c3ch=PLA&c3nid=12202416-P&adtype=pla&product_channel=online&store_code=&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIkZmE7On5-gIVaxvUAR1kVgK6EAQYASABEgKjE_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
Why is there such a huge price difference?
David
Its called INFLATION,, check your 401K and see one quarter of it is GONE!! elections have consequences..>>>Dan
Ouch. The two guys before me used Rotella T1 straight 40 and a few mechanics told me "thats good". You will get lots of opinions on this from longer bus owners than me, but that price for T1 is good. I pay 24 at my Tractor Supply. Walmart can order it but it is more. They keep straight 30 on the shelf and nobody buys it according to the automotive guy at my Walmart.
Best of luck.

$73.99 is for a case of 4 ,is the way I read it,nothing beats Delvac 1240 in a 2 stroke,Summit is $99.00 for a 5 gal pail I have 25 gals on order.I will never understand why 5 gal pails cost more than 1 gal jugs for 5 gals

Thanks Clifford.
I misread that. However, they don't have it in stock. I bought the last 2 cases they had back in March.

Seldom do they have it stock it usually take 2 weeks.lol the old 6v92 in your bus may want to wait 2 weeks
probably the cost of the buckets and xtra environmental fees for 5 gal and up containers
oli price is slow to catch up to current oil prices. probably went through all old stock or inventory. now at current cost. i doubt that oil is a big seller at summit, so slow to sell old price supply or their distributor's supply.
i think same with coal i buy. it was up only about 10 bucks last month. afraid next trip it may be substantially higher. i would get more at a time, but shovelling two tons into bin at a time is more strenuous as i i settle into geezerhood.lol

David -I just looked at the Summit link you shared, says estimated ship date is next week, Nov 3rd. If it were me, I would go ahead and order two cases of it now, and get my order into their system. Chances are your Detroit won't mind. . .

Yes it can wait. I was in the coach 4.5 months and 7352 miles with my only hiccup being the brake can coming off in Virginia that I wrote about.

I will be in for PM and a thorough look over of the coach until Thanksgiving, then back out again for a short trip to Port Aransas, TX.
My local Exxon distributor died and his warehouse is closed, so I cannot find this Mobil oil locally. Plenty of T1 Rotella available at my Tractor Supply.

It shows San Antonio as the closest distributor. It doesn't show Cope Oil Co in Jourdanton as a distributor any more. I guess the family is closing it all down. bummer
Granger shows delvac 1230 on web site
Tractor Supply Company has loads of that oil. I just bought enough for an oil change.

I've never seen Delo 1240 40wt monograde CF-2 at Tractor Supply. However, they regularly carry Shell T1 40wt CF-2 oil which I bought and filled the crankcase with it.

Wow, the cost of keeping these old rolling hunks of metal has really taken a huge leap. Diesel, oil, labor rates. Sadly, it does not bode weill or ease the entry for the next gen of busnuts. Maybe they call themselves buspsychos, nuts no longer qualifies for the cliub.
Finding 40 is not that hard. I just moved a customers 63 GMC 4106 across the country. The idiot shop in eloy, Arizona put the wrong oil in the Fresh Rebuild. I picked up oil at Williams in Phoenix. I only Use the Chevron Delo 100 40 w 2 stroke blend.
I picked up more for back up in Tuscan on the way of the Highway as it is harder to get back in the Northeast. We developed oil leaks in the first 80 miles and knew it would be needed. The shop never did a 200 mile shake down as they were paid to do. We will go over the motor now that we are back. We used 7 gal. to get home. or less with the oil leaks...lol We picked up three more cases in Ohio just in case. those were 23.00 per gal.
