It took a while but I am finally about finished with my washer and dryer install a nice addition to the bus!!
No more dirty underwater nor laundromat fees, cool!
That is a good little washer and dryer we have one in RV it is not like the older models Splendides it drys clothes in a few minutes not hours
So long as it is a vented version. I had the non vented in my AMGeneral and the clothes never got dry, we'd hang them up all around the inside and about an hour hanging out, and they were done
Putting the washer/dryer over the front wheel well was a good choice. Good Luck, TomC

The older model the vented were not much better we had one in the Eagle,it was a stupid idea to dry clothes with moisture, the new model will dry clothes they have element, but they still use a lot of water, something like 20 gals a load

That's the prolbme with me. I've got a practically new Splendido but being offgrid, it is hard to run a load when I know it uses a lot of water. I can out a few items in a plastic tub and a couple of gallons and do the wash, Couple more to rinse and hang. Way less water use and a whole lot faster. Humm... maybe it's time to pul it out. Never used it except once when i bought it see that it worked. lol
I originally planned to have a washer/dryer of some sort. My wife decided it wasn't a big deal to go to laundromats. Now that the bus is nearly complete, I wish I had planned for it anyway. However, I like how you did yours with the cabinet surround. I can see one in my future going between the dinette and the first chair in the "living room". It could double as an extension of the kitchen. There's kind of a dead space there anyway, so I planned to construct a micro-wave/coffee area there anyway. A unit like yours could go under all that and it would not look out of place. Thanks for sharing!
Mine was in cabinet under the sink with a door you never knew it was there, lol my wife will not use a laundromat each woman has her way of doing things.I disliked cleaning the filter on those you always had water everywhere
In Tok Alaska trips to the laundromat were in the $30 to $40 range per visit so we found a nice used washer & do an outdoor clothesline...in the summer time. If we went with an electric dryer - it may have been better to just keep going to the laundromat! :o
I gave it a lot of thought, decided I could utilize the area above the front fenders, we have used the set a few times they seem to work great, I went with the vented dryer seems to dry fast, however its only the two of us that keep the loads pretty small, I made the seat beside the dryer to open for storage, so far we have been happy with the addition.

Don -I wouldn't pull it out - use it when you're in a FHU campground like I do. I probably run 3-5 loads per week in mine - so handy! Also, a good feature to point out should you decide to sell your rig down the road. (BTW, owner's manual says it uses 7-18g of water, but doesn't break it down into the various wash cycles - time for more research!)
Glennman -The fellow that now owns my 5C did something similar to your idea when he installed a Splendide. Built a cabinet at the end of the galley counter, which also made it easy to hook up to the galley sink's plumbing/electrical at the same time.
RJ - Good advice. It is good selling point, I don't need any more space, and it's a lot easier to leave it in. LOL
I will run need to check the water use. If it is under ten, I might even use it while off grid. Seems an affordable luxury.

It won't be under 10 ,I have a meter and ours is always close to 20 gals for the full cycle,we had a Bendix in 2000 that was a little larger in capacity it would use close to 25 gals per cycle.Sonja never uses our unless we are in a campground ,she loves the washers no mattter how much water they use so I will always be stuck with one
I gave up a little kitchen space but I don't consider it a sacrifice. Having lived in a 21ft trailer for awhile this DL3 is just so roomy, and a full suite of appliances will surely make a big difference in the long run.

Chessie - That's the biggest advantage to a laundromat - in/out in an hour and a few bucks. That's how I rolled with the 5C. I've come to appreciate the on-board machine, tho, the convenience is compelling.
FWIW & HTH. . . ;)

Also, back in the day I'd drop off my laundry to the lady in the laundromat and pick it up a couple hours later all done. Was well worth the pittance she charged and she even provided the detergent. Did that several places so I know it wasn't just a local thing. Is that still common? I wouldn't know but I'd think so.
But once I got a washer and drier I quit doing that. Why I don't know, maybe something about loading dirty laundry in the car to go for a drive.
Jim
we noticed that in most of the laundrymats we used. don't like strangers handling my underwear lol.
