Title: MCI 102dl3 no check engine light
Post by: Jcparmley on September 28, 2022, 03:40:05 PM
Hello all

I am in the process of selling my bus. I need to drive it 10 miles to the shop I'm selling it to. The fuel tank had a leak so I lost prime on the series 60. I set up an auxiliary tank and have everything plumbed correctly. However the bust won't start. I can crank it and it will turn over on starting fluid.

Then I noticed I have no check engine light. So my assumption is that my computer isn't getting power. I pulled the computer and checked the harness. There are three pins where I have power. So I  thought that maybe it's the computer. So I swapped it with my spare. No luck.

I checked all my grounds. I have power at the batteries, the front bay, the junction box mail relay and the master switch. However I am not seeing any check engine light and when I try the manual check engine button in the first bay the red light does not flash. Can someone walk me through the trouble shooting?  Please

Did you prime the fuel system?

Yes, I did prime the system.  This is on my 102dl3 bus.  I know it's confusing because I have two buses I am trying to get in working order.  I did prime the system.  It will turn over when I actuate the starter.  The fuel runs from the temporary fuel tank, through the filters, through the head and back to the tank through the return hose.  I just can't get it to start.  Then I noticed that the check engine light wasn't coming on so I am assuming that the ECM isn't powering on and that is why the series 60 won't start.  Does that sound correct?

Check the main power circuit breakers that feed the computer. They feed directly off the batteries.

I have power at the computer harness but for some reason the computer isn't communicating. I have tried three different computers.

Good call luvrbus. I forgot to mention the grounds as well as the live ones.
