Title: Looking for Delco Remi 964 24V
Post by: Tedsoldbus on September 14, 2022, 06:34:38 PM
I have about five of these in my front wiring compartment. They look tired. They are in the same compartment my engine run relay took a nap at 65 MPH, so don't call me paranoid. I just want one or two in my "I wish I had one of those right now" box.

NAPA said "It's a what? And what does it do.". I couldn't find it on the internet. I sent a picture to Luke. Nothing back yet. Might be that I stumped Luke 2 times in a row now. I don't want him to put me on the "block calls" list.

They go to my wipers, air horn, headlights  etc and they all work for the time being. So don't offer me your last one, but guessing someone might have a secret source...

Texas Industrial Electric should have it or a replacement ,there should be 3 more numbers beside the 964 ,you can always change that over to a cube relay ,me I would go more up to date and use a separate relay for each circuit ,then you don't lose all the circuits when the 1 relay goes bad and it's not hard to do either

Thanks for the tip. I'll call them. There are no other numbers visible. When I got my bus the PO gave me the book of all that had been done.  Document showed a recommended change from the D cell looking relay to the cube about 20 years into the life of the bus. It looked a little not perfect (some corrosion inside)but my mechanic said " It is probably ok. Still works". It was the only cube in the panel. I have seen other Prevost with a whole row of them in their panel, but I just had one.
Unfortunately, it was the engine run relay and crapped out the first time Rita was behind the wheel on I 81 doing about 65 mph. It was replaced by Commonwealth Coach out of Richmond with a brand new (last one he had) D cell battery looking relay. It has been running great. I did get a couple of those for the spare parts box. But not anxious to put another cube in there.
