If I had access to $75K it would have been tempting as the drive train and the generator are nearly worth the price alone.   The drawbacks would be it is a totally one off bus.  Another put off for me is the front end is just ugly!  While it vaguely resembles the Eagles 'of old', the proportions are off.  The windshields are way too tall, and there are absolutely no curves.

Of course when you are driving down the road, and relaxing inside, who cares what it looks like on the outside!

As usual, I guess I'm one of the very few that like that one. It would have done well as a seated coach too. Just wasn't meant to be.

Maybe the interior had redeeming qualities, but the exterior is shaped like a brick and is not in the mold of previous Eagles. Chances are it will be for sale fairly soon again if they manage to figure out how to keep the door closed. It's one of a kind alright.

The door closer was up graded years ago ,that bus had a lot of good features ,a state of the art HVAC 12/110 system, larger bays than the old Eagles with pantograph electric doors and locks, Anti-lock disc brakes on all axles, liftable tag axle, high floor for driving with easy visibility, doors for easy access to the engine and tranny,no drop box made with American steel not the metric crap,
Eagle's down fall they never wanted to change just take the same bus make it longer and wider people got tired of it and Eagle went broke no body would buy their buses anymore. Criag wasn't perfect by no means, but he gave a shot in tough times 2006 and 2007 my hat's off to him for trying oh that bus only had 24,000 total miles, no special Eagle parts all off the shelf parts

Under capitalized

Shame, the rest would benefit from some smaller rabble rousing competition

Happy coaching!

One way to think of it is that MCI and PREVOST changed their designs over the years so why should EAGLE been different. I don't want to have the EAGLE stalwarts come after me with pitch forks but perhaps there's a reason why MCI, PREVOST, VAN-HOOL never used the TORSILASTIC type suspension but rather air bags. Obviously they thought the airbags were better for the 25 too. Had EAGLE stayed in business continuously, who knows what those buses would have been like now. Sure it's best to keep what is proven and is accepted but there are limits to just about everything. You run the risk if you get too sentimental over things. That can lead to heart breaking disappointment.

As a Eagle owner we all knew when Greyhound the owner of MCI bought Trailways, and Eagle the Eagle was gone.they raided the assets of Eagle to pay for the Greyhound drivers' strike. Same as when Prevost got their hands on Blue Bird once the Wanderlodge and intercity /commuter production buses were gone (sold) Prevost (Volvo) sold their stake in Bluebird, now Bluebird is just for school bus manufacturing. It's the American way buy your foe and shut it down

Same with series 60. Diamler buys it with plans to replace it with their engine as soon as we get used to a foreign manufacturer.

The thing I am must proud of is that bus never left my shop for 13 years. All the work you see  I did. I had help with the stretching of the aluminum upper siding. It left the shop to get painted. I had a man work for me for a year that did a lot of the sanding of wood. He is a better painter than me thus the under carrage and the finish of the wood. I also ran a company  at the time and was the first one there in the morning and the last one to leave. So when I get ask what about the third bus I answer it would be the most expencive bus ever built the boss will see to it and get to enjoy it with some young buck. The building of the bus was for the most part  an escape from reality I would go to the shop turn on the radio and lose myself in the bus.

P.S. Gary if you are reading this thread give me a call me emails coming back unsendable

There was a group that bought what was left of    the non school bus unit of BLUEBIRD which included the WANDERLODGE, EXPRESS 4500 and Q/CS. It didn't last very long though.

That was Complete Coach Works in Riverside Ca they are still in business,he just let Blue Bird go because of so many lawsuits he wasn't told about ,the owner of Complete Coach was killed in a car wreck a few years ago, look up Complete Coach Works they do tons of electric conversion and rehab work for Transit operators across the USA
