Title: bus salvage yards
Post by: DandM on June 02, 2022, 09:47:44 AM
Beeh a long time since i posted here, lots of life changes, medical challenges, and government help. what more could go wrong, don't ask.i''m trying to get back to work on the Scenicrusier.
#1 question...are there any bus salvage yards near Salina Kansas, or  Kansas City Kansas.
weird project- i would like to take 2 4104s fand make a trailer with a similar profile as a 4501. it would need to have the same perporshions the 4501,only one rear axle. OK, i think that's enough crazy for one post.

Might try Sam Caylor @ Caylor Supply -
4712 Rock Creek Rd, Rantoul, KS 66079 (785) 878-3405
But I don't know how much luck you'll have finding 4104's there he usually specializes in MCI's but that doesn't mean he won't have something or know where to look.
BUT don't try to haggle him on the price he quotes you! He's been known to drop and break the only available piece of unobtainable glass and ask you "Did you hear that breaking?" when you say yes he'll say "Yeah, sure I'll take your price for it now!"

I've not heard of any mention of bus salvage along the west coast. Ted Campbell is mentioned and he has a pile of buses out there but not mentioned as a source of parts, primarily service. Being out here, sure would be nice to know where a MC7-8-9 or two is sitting waiting for parts to be picked off.

I can get you a very cheap 4104 in the New Orleans area.  Complete with the exception of the engine/ transmission, and rear engine door.  It would be a good deal, if you own a Landoll and Diesel refinery.  Patrick

There's a 1987  Prevost XL 40 or 45 at C&H Truck Parts in South Sioux City, Nebraska 1-402-494-6866

They have a number of other trucks, buses and schoolies that they are selling parts off of.

A for effort but my map, it may be old, shows Nebraska and NOLA kind of far from the "west coast". There are plenty of buses out here, just find it so odd, there are not more places to grab a part or two. I know RE is costly in metro areas but there is plenty of dry storage out in the deserts.
