Title: 1977 MCI-8 with 8v71t?
Post by: zoneVphotography on January 05, 2022, 03:41:30 PM
Hello. I am looking to buy my first bus. I am considering a 77 MCI with an 8v71t (it originally had an 8v71 but the 8v71t was installed in the 90s). I am in the Reno, NV area which is at about 4,300 feet above sea-level. What type of highway cruising speeds would I expect (on fairly flat stretches of highway). Thank you.

the usual transmissions have 1:1 ratio, and the typical differential was 3.7 :1.

70 mph at 2100 rpm, the usual redline for an 8V71.

Perfectly good workhorse drivetrain, and with the turbo, you are elevation proof!

happy coaching!
