Title: Jack, oltrunt
Post by: lvmci on December 28, 2021, 09:51:38 PM
Jack (many have seen his beautiful Chevy school bus conversion on the cover of the printed BCMagazine), has successfully completed bypass surgery and starts the road to recovery today. Lorna, his wife has asked for no calls for awhile. I will give updates as Lorna gives them to me. lvmci...

Will keep him in my prayers. Bypass surgery is so common now. Back in 1993 my 84 year old grandpa had emergency bypass and it saved his life. He passed away in 1994 but his heart was damaged prior to the surgery. Still though every day is a gift for all of us.

Good news Jack was released from the hospital late last night. Still working thru issues, so Lorna asks for no phone calls or texts, as she is receiving calls from doctors and nurses for the next few days, as they settle in for the recovery. I will give updates as I get them, tom lvmci...
BEST WISHES JACK FOR A QUICK AND COMPLETE RECOVERY

Update this evening from Jack's wife Lorna, 08jan:
We are in good spirits. I follow directions on charging the batteries in the bus, and checking that various switches are off or on or what. He has to draw me diagrams and pictures of stuff, so that I can crawl around and find what he is talking about.
....Jack is making good progress. He is very motivated and disciplined and has strict schedule which covers the 24 hour period, with specific walking, breathing and ... exercises.
...he is walking a little over a half mile a day doing the route... I have been kept very busy, doing my part of the schedule.
...We had a beautiful quiet Christmas Eve and Christmas day in our little bus and it was very special for us...
...We are so fortunate that he was able to get this surgery done before Covid exploded again and which saved his life.
BEST WISHES JACK AND LORNA, FOR A QUICK AND COMPLETE RECOVERY, NICKY AND TOM...

Jack is doing much better. Here's some of what Lorna sent me.
"Jack doing well. Walking about a mile now around the house... A complication of removing a large vein from that leg.. is still draining as I write. Will change dressings and continue to compress for several days. Chest incisions healing well, and doing very limited arm stretches for now... Thought about attaching a photo I took after he finally came off the ventilator in the CCU of his giant chest incision, but he decided it was too graphic to share. With all this metal in his chest, he wanted to be sure that he could still weld and  use the plasma cutter, without problems. The cardiologist said it should not be a problem. He does need to carry a card, regarding the metal in his chest, for any metal detecting screening etc..."

Best wishes Jack and Lorna for a quick and complete recovery, Tom and Nicky
