Title: Need help in Miami
Post by: Tedsoldbus on November 15, 2021, 03:33:38 PM
My wife's good friend needs help in Miami. She owns a Foretravel U320. I know it is not a "real" bus, but it has a 450 Cummins that won't start. RV guys replaced both A/C units and the neighbor had to turn on the inverter etc to get it powered back up electrically, but it won't turn over at. It has 70K miles on it and she has it sold.....if it will start. It ran great before the RV guys worked on it. Battery and starter (which is a year old) supposedly check out fine. She has only been able to get one mobile repair guy willing to come "LOOK" at it for $1600 dollars. (what a nice guy...).
Any south Fla bus nuts know who she can call? Probably an ignition switch or something way too simple to have her pay a 1600 dollar ransom. Perhaps a breaker the AC guys shut off and forgot. Dashboard lights up and there is a "click" but won't turn over. It is plugged into 50 amp. She has money and will pay to get it going if anyone can think of a guy that doesn't need 1600 to wander by...
Thanks
Ted

The battery probably needs charging, just because she is plugged doesn't mean the chassis battery is charging, the inverter will charge the house batteries but the chassis uses a echo charger that could be bad or blew a fuse.If she has road side assist have her call them for jump and it will probably fire off $1600.00 to look at it people amaze me sometimes,Cummins will come for a 1/3 of that if they are not booked for weeks

She may already be aware of this but Foretravel has a very active forum of helpful people, much like this one or the Wanderlodge forum. It can be found here:

https://www.foreforums.com/

The are lots of very knowledgeable and helpful people on it who can probably solve her problems with Foretravel specific information. I believe There is also a list of good Foretravel mechanics.

Ted, I  posted this on the Foretravel Board and got a response in 11 minutes! that is what makes that board, this board, and a few others so good!

One guy is a pro Foretravel mechanic and the other an owner who lives in South Florida. The owner guy said he has a grand daughter in Miami and would be glad to take a trip over there to help your friend get going and visit his granddaughter at the same time. He is retired so he can go quickly. He needs some contact info. Can you send me yours or hers & I will get you guys together. PM me.
