Hey, anyone know if they re-pop the rubber fender flares (or whatever they are called) for the Buffalo's?? Mine are getting in pretty bad shape.
Thanks!
I've never found anything other than a rare NOS one. I believe they are the same as the 4106, but don't quote me on that.
If anybody has a source for them, I am interested as both mine are gone long ago.
We never had them on our 4104 but would love to as the sides get soiled pretty fast in the rain - but really don't know how well they work or how effective they are. We surely wouldn't have them for looks of themselves but how effective they are at keeping the coach cleaner.
GM new looks have them as well so maybe they will fit.
So, what does a "new look" actually look like? Does anyone have a bus with them on and can measure?
Thanks!
I can measure them tomorrow.
Here is the measurements of my fenders on a New Look.
The measure 54" across and 36" high.
I will ask a friend of mine with a 4106 he had set made for his bus out of aluminum by a outfit in OH .He is thrifty with a nickel so I know the price wasn't that bad,he was going to use some from a Eagle I had here made of aluminum,Eagle used both rubber or aluminum
Bill,
Thanks a TON!! It seems I could work with the 36'' tall measurement but my width is only about 48'' - depending where you measure. I wonder if they would conform down to that small?
I guess someone with one, off their bus, could maybe try to see how bad they would "puff out" or, I will have to purchase one and find out for myself. :-\
Aluminum could be a choice but I'd much rather have the rubber. If they are just not out there in rubber....well, aluminum it is. :P
Thanks gents!!!!

If you have to pull in the ends 6" the middle won't lay flat. That's if you can convince them to mount at all. There are a series of holes around the perimeter as they are used on multiple models. They get sandwiched between the aluminum trim and the body and there is a small amount of movement possible when being mounted, but not 6" worth.
Might want to make sure you're both measuring from the same place.
Luke at US Coach can probably check the part numbers for you to see if the two models use the same fender.
Funny people that own Eagles want the rubber gone and install the aluminum
This is what they look like uninstalled. About 48" wide as measured AR the crease where the flat edge meets the molded visible part. About 36" vertically.
This one is the spare for my 4108.
Richard, so where can I get those? That looks to be exactly what I need. I will check it out further, before I pull the trigger but, those seem like the correct size.
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Like I said earlier, they have been out of production for a long time. I got this spare when I saw a listing online from someone selling a few of them - snatched it up in case I have need at some point.
I've seen them come up for sale from time to time. Keep doing what you're doing and getting the word out that you're looking. Wouldn't hurt to check with people like Charles Wotring, Stan Holter, or other old bus guys out there.
My 4106 was bought out of salvage with at least a couple of good fenders on it. I think that Stan knows where it ended up. Perhaps you can track it down and see if they are still good.
Thanks Richard. I'll keep my ear to the ground and eye open.
Bill, where can I get the flares for the New Look? I may be able to get "creative" with them. :) (I have been known to do so, from time to time.)
If they don't cost a small ransome, I'm thinking maybe - split, sectioned and a stainless "medalion" to secure pieces together......or someting along those lines. Just my initial thought. ;)
Thanks guys!!

At one time when I was trying to get fenders for the 4106 I contemplated using the brush fenders that you see on trucks and transit buses sometimes. They are about the same width as the rubber fenders and could easily be shaped to fit the openings.
From a distance they'd create the same look, and they certainly help keep the outside of the bus clean from debris kicked up by the tires.
