After 20 years my rooftop Coleman AC fan motor seized up at the sleeve bearing. I found an exact replacement from supplyhouse.com for $99. It was a bit more than Amazon. I figured I give money to someone else besides Bezos.
I took about 1.5 hrs to do the changeout. Lots of screws in that unit to get all those covers off. I don't know how many times I climbed the ladder to go get another tool or something.
The fans came off the shaft easily. That was a nice surprise.
Not too bad of a job :^

Nice accomplishment and especially one that was expected to be a pain in the @$#!
Couldn't resist checking amazon--you scalped Bezos of $25 as amazon wanted $124.99!

Did he get free shipping or movies?lol
Very funny, but don't undercut Bezos until my spoiled nieces and nephews get their Christmas presents! Glad to hear a regular bus nut that can still climb a ladder can take a stab at fixing it. My bus is 42 years old. Just had the Amish change out the propane leaking, cooling unit dissolving corroded fridge unit. VERY happy with what they did especially after seeing now corroded the parts I couldn't see until they pulled it.
However, my 2 A/C units, the microwave, hot water heater, propane fired furnace etc are all still original. Still work great! (sound of me knocking on wooden item).
My "how do I fix this" time is coming....
Go Braves,
Ted
those older ac units hold up better than the new ones. competition from others caused to use thinner tubing, mounting bases, covers, etc. You want a sturdy one now, at least Coleman- Airxcel, sells rough service models at extra cost, probably built like the old ones.
BTW, I see the Suburban propane furnaces are now up around $1000 bucks. I remember when they were high twos, low threes.Guess I should have bought gold.lol
...and yet SOME people still keep insisting that we have inflation. Get a life people!

I was told by a friend who bought a new rooftop AC for his RV that they are all plastic covers now. Don't know the brand. My old Coleman was all metal under the cover.
My biggest fear in replacing the motor was removing the impellers or squirrel cages from the shaft. However, I watched a youtube video and it looked to be very easy, and guess what?, it was. Loosen the clamp nut and they slid right off. No damage to either fan. I cleaned them up and reinstalled.
I have purchased a lot of plumbing stuff for house remodeling from Supplyhouse.com. I have had good fast service from them on anything I've purchased. I only use Amazon as my last choice.
