Title: ISO RH steering knuckle
Post by: baselvog on October 11, 2021, 11:29:58 AM
New to the community, I have owned a MCI 5B for 17 years and have followed this forum for years.  Recently while driving it home from a shop, the inner bearing on the right hand front wheel went out.  Long story, I'll spare you the gory details, but I had the bus towed to a shop.  The shop says that the bearing is now welded to the spindle.  So, it appears that I am in need of a steering knuckle.  My parts manual lists that has part # 1C-2-2.  I understand that MCI thinks these are made of gold, so I was hoping to locate one elsewhere before going that route.  Does anyone know where I might find one?

Any help is greatly appreciated,
Bruce

Are you sure MCI's price is high. Or do they have the part. Call them to find out. Sometimes their prices are very reasonable.

I wonder if MCI would have sent this part over to Vintage Parts when they purged their inventory some year back?  If you contact MCI they can tell you if the part was sent to Vintage Parts or not.

There are companies that specialize in damaged spindle repair that might be cheaper than a new part.  There are no new spindles for my bus so I had to have a local spindle repair place fix my spindle.  You would think the shop would have a spindle repair company they have used before for other spindle repairs.

Most of those places will not try to repair a front spindle as most are 1 piece casting Chris Newton on face book is parting out a MCI 5 a tree fell on try him he fair on his price and shipping
