Gary,
I guess this is an "old topic". I just test loaded 4 pictures. The two taken with a camera and then loaded onto my computer show up straight. All photos taken with my phone and loaded to computer, turn 90 degrees. Can't find the post where you told us how to fix the sideways ones. If you send it again, I promise to write it down...

Ted -
I've found the same issue. But what I've done, since I'm using an iPhone, is to go to iCloud and download the pics to my laptop. Then I open and edit each photo's file and save it. This seems to cure the "sideways" problem.
FWIW & HTH. . . ;)
I just don't worry about it. After all, I already have seen my photos.
It really only effects everyone else.
it's a problem here. mine come out upside down. OK elsewhere.
I downloaded the pictures from both to the laptop. They are side by side and upright in my download file on the computer. But add to BCM....
I know it is driving Gary and his electron guru nuts. I have never seen an application do this before and I played with a lot of data bases in the military. A true anomaly. I hope we get it resolved as people will be discouraged from posting pictures of an engine or trani or other problem that many of you can solve and we all learn from it. Not complaining, just updating Gary and crew. I expect he will send again where we go and how to fix until a permanent fix. I am still looking for that post...
JPEG images have some information in the file that tell the orientation at which it should be displayed. At some point the images are being modified on the server, and the rotation information is lost. I would guess when they are uploaded but it is also possible when they are sent out to be displayed.
A workaround would involve saving the images from a program that rotates the actual image data and sets orientation = 0. I think most image editors will do this.
Perhaps edit the pic and rotate it 90 degrees save it then post.
Which 90, left or right...
My understanding is iOS devices do not tag the photos with the information needed to determine the orientation the photo was taken in. The older forum software used here cannot handle this and usually shows them sideways. Other forum software like XenForo seems to handle this just fine.
They have to be tagged somehow, since they are displayed in the correct orientation on the phone and computer. It might be a different method than other cameras use.
I took a few shots with my camera rotated 90 right. posted them and did the "look at draft" button without posting to the forum. It WORKED. that can't be the answer. I've said too much on this already. Just don't want others afraid to post pictures of a problem. Never saw this anywhere but here. Anyone know Bill Gates? I know Gary know Elon Musk, but we need a computer guy....

Some photo editing software thinks it is smarter than you. To fix the problem in the past, I have saved the photos to my local drive and edited them with a different Photo editor to rotate them and resave them to solve the problem.
I will tell pass that on to the Rita. She is our electron Jedi. I read carefully what you said 3 times. Might as well be giving me instructions for docking the shuttle to the International Space Station. But thanks for tilting my bus back to earth! If it stayed that way much longer I'd be down about 4 gallons of oil.
at least all the ads are right side up.
