Title: 1986 MCI102A3 not charging
Post by: Gary W on August 14, 2021, 09:47:50 AM
My not charging light stays on, when I first start engine I have 27 volts on meter when air pressure reaches 90lbs. it drops to 24 volts and not charging light stays on. I changed the 24 volt regulator no difference. Any suggestions.

Thanks Gary

   Hi'
I would suggest you get a wiring diagram and see where
the wires go from the light.   I would guess it goes to a
       relay some where.
                                          Good luck

Does the air pressure go to ~120 and the air drier purge/compressor cut-out?

Does the hvac turn on?

If the pressure switch is not satisfied, you won't get charging.

Whole system has to be at operational pressures, not just the dash gauge.

Hi Buswarrior
That is what I was wondering as the  hvac does not turn on. I moved the bus into Vernon Bc last Friday as we were put on evacuation alert because of the forest fires near us. Then at about 1130 pm the Mounties woke us up to evacuate right away, loaded up the car and went to the bus. We are back home as of Monday but are back on alert as the fire is about ten miles away . Have not had a chance to go back for more trouble shooting yet.Thank goodness we have the bus as many people slept in their cars the first night, as all the hotels are full.

Yup, love the bus for "bug out" support!!

A healthy air leak in the aux system, might be your culprit?

We're here for you!
