I'm going to pull the head off my air compressor. Any suggestions as to the easiest way to drain the coolant for this job?

I'm not sure if this will work for your bus, but I used several 12x15" rectangular plastic tubs intended for holding hanging file folders. They fit nicely under the back bumper, where there is a drain plug in the lower coolant line that is there.
You may have shutoff valves in the coolant lines running forward from the engine, if you shut those you won't as much coolant drain out.
I had an electric water pump that had been used for coolant in another bus that I used to pump it back in when I was done.
