Because 24 Volt systems can use smaller wires than 12 or 6 volt,, things like the head lights and other "long run " items are 24.. Check your bulbs and other small items to be sure.>>>Dan ( It's the same old thing with cost and weight when producing anything,,,minimize! )
back in the 80's, there was talk about GM considering, 48 volt system, if I recall.
In aviation 36 and 48 volt DC systems were common at one time,, the weight of hundreds of miles of wiring is significant for an aircraft as well as cost.. In todays world devices are miniature and low draw electronics,, so heavy gauge wire is no longer needed for most things ..>>>Dan
I wire on the CAN system can control several things the module's can send different functions through 1 wire that is where he may have problem converting from 24 to 12 v on the MCI
Clifford has a point,,7 years ago I replaced an inverter in a motorhome with a remoted control panel.. The old control panel used 4 wires from the inverter to the panel,, the new system needed 5 wires.. I did not want to tear into all the cabinetry to run a single wire from the rear mounted bed area to the panel above the front door.. Called a guy in Phoenix with the problem,, for 15 bucks he sent two small "chips", one that plugged into the inverter and one at the panel,, suddenly the system now works with 4 wires that needed 5 wires,, go figure!..>>>Dan
