Title: remote radiator on gen a must?
Post by: OKIE9ERS on June 11, 2021, 03:30:47 PM
Just got in an 11kw Kubota lowboy generator.
I read about those who remote mount the radiator. Is that a must? Or can the bay be vented/fanned to accommodate cooling this gen with the radiator as installed?
Is overheating these gens a huge issue?
Thanks

I had to wire in a (Hayden) electric fan with a thermostat on the outside of the air discharge vent on the side, if the bus was sitting it worked fine but moving down the road the side wind or slip stream whatever wouldn't let the radiator air vent out so it would overheat and shutdown but works great now. I also cut in a vent on the other side of the bus, run a air intake tube for the engine to it for cooler outside air for the engine to breath and/or help air flow for the whole unit.

we have a 10kw Power Tech, and radiator is on the generator yet. Blows down. Floor around engine is screened.
