Title: 6V92 and HT 740 fluid quantity
Post by: Tedsoldbus on May 13, 2021, 04:21:31 PM
8 gallons for the engine I am told. I picked up 10 gallons of Rotella straight 40 from Tractor supply. That's what is in there now.
Will 8 gallons also fill the filter and show "full" on stick?
Can't find "how much" or how many quarts for trani. About to change my bolt from the bottom filter to a new housing that accepts the spin on trani filter. How many quarts to fill that beast including filter?
Guys that have done it please respond. (no guesses please)
Previous owner gave me 2 bottles of Coastal Dex Merc. Said that is what is in there. Good stuff when we go to fill it back up?

My 6V92 would take about a pail of oil. My HT740 about the same. What I do is drain it, measure it, then replace with the same amount of fresh oil.

Ted; if it is doing job don't change products..  Fact is many use same oil in engine and transmission. Not many responses because of differant pratices. I haven't had a 700 series in years and don't remember.  Bob

I would suspect 5-7 gal.

There is an 1/8 pipe plug in the pan. Put 5 gal in it , start the engine, remove the plug and add fluid until it starts to run out.

As was mentioned, HT's run well on ATF or motor oil. 30w is fine.
