Title: 72 MCI MC-5B fuel level sensor
Post by: Jsrcaptain on April 06, 2021, 02:59:22 PM
My sensor wasn't working so I bought a new one from Luke. The old one is a straight vertical rod about 12 inches to the pivot point and rheostat and the float arm from there. The new one goes straight down for only 3 to 4 inches then makes a 90 degree bend for about 12 inches to the pivot. Also, the 5 screw pattern is specially spaced as to be installed in only one direction. The new one doesn't fit the pattern. Only 3 out of 5 screws line up.
Did I get the wrong part? I think so. I called Luke but got someone else who said that was the only one they sold and it always worked. I'll call and talk to Luke tomorrow.
Any ideas?

Usually if you try all the positions, they'll all line up.
Did you get one for the auxiliary tank some have?
If you cant get it to work, they make a straight tube type that reads from inside the tube. No float arm. You just need to match the ohms of original and depth of tank, less an inch or two.

I might have an aux tank one. Seems too shallow for my deep main tank. There are only two positions due to the 90 degree arm. Hits the sides otherwise.
Do you know who has the probes you mentioned?
Thanks.
