Title: air filter
Post by: artglass on March 07, 2007, 07:55:46 PM
Looking for a part # for a k&N air filter to fit a mci 8 , saw a guy at quartsite a couple or years ago  was selling  them  ,can't find his info, my canister has got a pin hole rusted in it , figure would be more economical to get a k& n rather than a canister from mci? If not any one know the part # fro the mci canister which the t-12  1010 element fits in and also the cover for it?

K&N at one time did make truck/bus size air cleaners-I know I have one on my old truck.  They stopped making them since they were not cost effective-they had to make them by hand.  Highly recommend just going to the Donaldson air filter site-they make many types of elements.  I just put in a new Donaldson air cleaner since I turboe'd my engine.  Went from a 6" to a 7" opening, same basic size air cleaner, and it works great.  Donaldson makes Freightliners custom air cleaners for the M2 line.  I figure if a giant truck manufacturer like Freightliner uses the Donaldson air cleaner and the engine manufacturers from Detroit, Mercedes-Benz, Cummins, and Caterpillar all approve it, it must be good.  K&N was NEVER approved by any of these engine manufacturers.  Good Luck, TomC
