For budgeting...
Has anyone recently done a manual to auto conversion on say an mc8 or very similar? Would love to know some numbers to get a ball park for budgeting...I know it'll vary wildly due to parts shipping/availability/labor, but let's say high end arizona'ish area. I'd be happy to contribute what labor I could to help and learn but would say hands offish as I'm just recovering from open heart surgery.....
Is there anyone around this area that would even want to tackle such a project? I'm in Quartzsite currently but once I'm eventually cleared to drive again I'm happy to travel to have work done...
You can buy a take out with the shifter and transmission for around $4 to $4500.00 labor will run close to $3000.00,a little fab work is needed on the cradle moving the rear motor mounts from the engine to the transmission for support and if you have a 71 series the center hub for the flex plate are getting hard to come by now
Thank you sir!
Yep, it's the 71 series.
Almost be worth buying another bus with it already setup to scavenge for the parts and anything else I'd want for spares and sell the rest to someone like Chris Newton for his parts inventory....
Is there anyone still around that would even want to do it?
Gary Nickerson in Lake Havasu City used to do a wonderful clean trouble free conversion at $8K and you provide the transmission,, he provided all else,, he included a filter and cooler as well.. I'm not sure he still does them.>>>Dan
Well Dizzyg,,, if you would create a signature line with your location, your last question would make more sense.>>>Dan
