I had my 02 Jeep Grand Cherokee when shopping at Walmart. They had a sale going on a Castrol Edge oil change and, since I was due, I had them do it. When I got home I saw that the receipt showed that they used Mobile 1. They said they would change out the oil if I wanted. Does it make sense to bother or should I just live with it? I had previously been using Valvoline High Mileage Full Synthetic.
Good to know they use the Mobil. Mobik is all I use in all my vehicles for years.
That is about reason one thousand and one not to have automotive work done at Chinamart. If they screwed up what brand of oil they used, what else did they screw up? Is your oil drain plug tight? Did they strip the threads? Is it a Chinese oil filter? As for the oil Mobil 1 is a great oil, but they make different grades of synthetic. What type of Mobile 1 did they use?

Yes, it was a Walmart experience for me. They used Mobil 1 EB 5w 30 oil and a Fram filter. I would not buy Fram on my own. I also bought a wiper blade for the back window according to their book. It was the wrong size but they would not take it back at the automotive counter and told me to go around to the other side of the store to return it. I had told the service writer that the car has two grease zerts, but when I looked at the invoice, it said that there were no grease fittings. They now say I can come back and wait for a turn to get them to grease the fittings.
I half feel that I should make them do all that they were supposed to do, but really that is just more nuisance for me. It will be far easier to just accept it as God's will and grease the thing myself.
On the other hand, it is really amazing that life here is so good that things like this can even register as a problem.
Did they use a new copper washer on the oil plug. If not it will leak? :(
A buddy of mine found out that they told him they changed the oil and other liquids on his ford truck and when he got home and actually read the invoice things done it said topped all fluids in engine. They never changed anything they just added to them if they needed it.
you now have to check the car after you get it to make sure they toped up the oil when you get a oil change . my son and a buddy of his both had a problem after a paid for oil change as both trucks were down over a quart ? the day after the change ?
that's one way for them to save money ?
I change my own oil on my coach and cars and truck so I can look over other stuff when I am under there as I change the oil

So long as it is the correct viscosity for your engine-just run it. Your engine has no brain-it doesn't care what oil you use.
An '02 most likely has roller lifters on the camshaft, in which case it is pretty insensitive to oil type. BUT, if an engine has the older flat tappet cam, using modern oils in it will eventually result in a flattened lobe and require a cam and lifter replacement.

Good to know for those It might effect.
For anyone like me with lots of flat tappet cam vehicles: run Rotella 15w-40. It has the4 zinc content required and your old engine will burn less with 15w40 anyway. I generally buy it in buckets whenever Napa has it on sale.

We run that in a lot of our farm tools & an antique diesel front loader - great oil!
I like Walmart lol the shop I use across the street from our local W/M reduced his price and gives better service now,he charged me $28.00 for years now it is $22.00
Out here in this country rotella 15w40 is what everybody uses.... pickups tractors semis... you name it.
Round here, Mobil Delvac 1300 series 15w40.
Valvoline Blue mostly around here since it is the factory oil for Cummins and Cat ]
