Title: inverter mystery
Post by: Tedsoldbus on February 15, 2021, 05:36:45 PM
I have a Trace 2012SB in my bus. Had a senior moment last week and started the bus for 15 minutes just to run it. Shut down. Ran generator for 25 minutes. put a load on it etc. Shut down. Plugged back into 50 amp at the house. Inverter turns on and off. Shows leg 1 and 2 and batts at 12.6, but red light does not flash (indicating charging) and meter usually shows around 13.4 as it charges. Did I fry the charger feature?

Wish I could answer that than I might be able to answer my issue being similar but it's a new Magnum install. Charger won't work when running on genny but works on the pole. Inverter is fine either way. Wonder is our problem is similar?

Dan, how are you switching between shore and generator? Does the unit have any gfi or neutral/ground bond protection/sencing circuitry?

Something fishy

Happy coaching!

ATS, no gfi. Still working on the rest. Yes it is fishy.

Call tech support they are great to work with.

When my Heart 25 displayed similar behaviour an old tech told me to give it a good solid smack on the case. Your trace is likely similar vintage in which case it may house similar transfer relays which have got sticky with age.  In my case it was a workaround until I could get new relays installed but it did work.
