While shopping for a new Racor ECO-BC 94973002 air filter, I found that Racor also has their Ecolite series of filters, with its 62891003 exactly the same size as the ECO-BC I now have. These are the largest filters in each series, 15.5" diameter x 24" high, and with 7" in and out diameters, suitable for our air-gulping 2-strokes. The Ecolites are slightly less expensive than the ECO-BC, presumably because they're not designed to be outside the cab but instead inside next to the engine. One thing however - the Ecolite can be used inside/out or outside/in, while the ECO-BC is only for inside/out. Does this make any difference to how well it can filter or how long it lasts? Is anyone here using an Ecolite?
I contacted Harbor Diesel in Long Beach CA for prices (I bought my present ECO-BC from them) and spoke with Patrick Vuoso, their VP of parts and logistics, who was very helpful and knowledgeable. HD's prices for the filters are $189.34 for the ECO-BC and $168.57 for the Ecolite, in line with The Racor Store's prices and cheaper than most other retailers. Patrick mentioned that Racor no longer has their Modesto CA facility where my ECO-BC was made when I ordered it before, so it may now take slightly longer to get these filters, but that doesn't matter for me. He also mentioned that Baldwin has a similar filter, the PA2723, but I'm slightly wary of Baldwin air filters after what Technomadia went through with their 8V71: is anyone here using this Baldwin filter?
I plan on buying two filters, then replace my present one later this year when its Filter Minder touches the red, and keep the other as a spare. Like CF-2 oil, it's not something you're likely to find in stock at most places, so having a spare in the bus is prudent.

Parker licenses about all filter manufactures to build those filters, I use Baldwin and never had a problem with one yet I,also use the Donaldson and Wix ECO filters
I have been using the Ecolite filter as it's a standard item on my Cummins.. Been good for 140K miles and 22 years.>>>Dan

oh no don't let the filter police know that you have not changed it on a yearly bases !
I have got crapped on because I replaced mine in 2016 and look at it every year and carefully vacuum it out but there is little to no dust on it when I do it . so why change it if it is not shot or if it has not gotten wet ?

I also use a filter minder as needed..>>>Dan
