Title: Fearless Flying In The Eagle!
Post by: Homegrowndiesel on March 06, 2007, 06:35:40 PM
Fearless Flying in the Eagle!

Well, I guess I should check the grounds better. (It had rained previously)
I found the soft spot.  Sunk her to the frame.

My friends stuck with me as we proceeded to jack and block as I had done before. (key word )(Done), sorry friends) I owe Mike a $100. Something $$$$ air jack that I ruined while we tried to jack our bus out.

Anyway, do not start down the road of blocking and jacking, unless you have hours to spend.

We went down That road and still came up short.  Dog Gone.It

Well all is well, 1 call to our local tow company (Carey's Inc. RT 13 Laurel DE 19956 302-875-5674) and we were back on solid ground.

6' back is all we needed to be winched.  (really only 3') Soft waterlogged ground and 30,000. # vehicles do not mix.

If you come to Bruce's for the next gathering I will Have to show you where NOT to park. Plenty of other places, But OH NO I had to find the OLD Stump Hole.

How ABought That for an Excuse.

I am sure I saw a couple of grins and flashes, and we will be graced with some pictures. (ok Ross post them)

OK if I had not went cowboy out in the field I would not have been stuck.

Ok no one got hurt.

Please Show your stuck experience so I do not feel so bad.

Bill,

Over here in Dorchester County we use water bush branches to "flag" our muskrat traps.... Maybe you can get Ross to flag his "bustraps" with something similar. Then us country boys would know "Don't go there, it's a trap"  ;D ;D

Sorry about your misfortune. Glad you got out with only minimum damages. I don't have a stuck story either. I am hoping never to have one.

I hope to get to meet you guys over at Ross's one weekend but right now we are still trying to work out the financing for the campground in Timmonsville.

I probably shouldn't tell this story -- BUT -- at a NASCAR race in Kansas City a couple of years ago- it had rain some before we got there and continued while we tried to park in the infeild - pulled into my spot and got stuck. Good news is thay had a 4 wheel drive tractor there to pull us out.  SO -- turned around and tried to back in -- same as above. THEN -- the tractor driver (nice guy) decided the only way to get us parked was to PULL US INTO THE PARKING SPOT!! RIGHT -- INTO THE MUD HOLE!!! It is the only time I've been pulled into getting stuck!!
It dried out enough during the weekend that we got out by ourselves - after walking around the HUGH rutts we left getting in.

Bill,

It's still better then what happened to my dad in his 4104 about 20 years ago at Tom's Cove [Chincotigue VA]

They parked him in a site that had a large septic tank under it.. Guess What!  Yea you guessed it. The rear tires crashed

through the cement lid.  I remember jacking and proping until 2 in the morning. That Was A Sh*tty Job.. There Was Sh*t everywhere.....

The next morning a tractor pulled us off the blocking just as the rear tires hit solid ground, and out we came.
