hello,
I just came back from my maiden voyage with two issues - High temperature and air filter clogged.
We did a lot to fix the temperature issue (done I think) but my question is about the air filter.
I have a round canister paper air filter in the engine compartment.
It's lays on it side above the muffler and is 18" long and 12" round. The opening or intake is pointed the corner of the left rear engine compartment. I was told that any air intake should be above the top of your tires. Also you should have ambient air. Mine is sucking the engine heat/exhaust.
While working on the overheat issue we noticed a small rectangular panel over the side engine door that was covered up. It looks like in would have ducts that go up the radiator grill. I have looked in my parts book and can't find the air filter but only a picture of an air damper that looks like it would connect to the radiator vents and the other end to the air filter.
Does anyone have a picture/drawing on the air filter system? How was it designed? how does it look like and work?
Should I have a tunnel made to connect my filter to the ducts?
Thanks
Rick
What does the
You should go back and tie the filter into the intake MCI used that plate is probably the original intake under the radiator; I have changed several of the oil bath system out for paper and used the original intake
Rick post pictures and we will be able to tell you what's been messed up I mean modified!
BTW you do know that clean fresh air is essential for a cool running engine right?
