Title: Belt driven generator front seal leak
Post by: Jinxie on September 26, 2020, 04:11:25 PM
Got the 8v71 degreased and washed down. Found the generator front seal is the major oil leak culprit. This is belt driven off the rear of the engine. 1977 MC8.
Can this seal be changed in the coach? To me it looks like it, but not sure if there are any special drive/press tools. I think I will replace the pressure line too....looks a little old. Is the pulley easily removed? Where do I get a seal even??

Thanks

   HI;
       When you say "seal",  is that on the motor or on the D50?  If it is on the gen, any good rebuild shop will have
       that seal.   If it is the seal on the back of the motor, then you might contact Luke at (856)794-3104.  He is the
       "go-to-guy"  for us bus nuts.
                                                           Good luck,  Merle.    ;D

Hi
Actual seal on the generator. Front of generator just behind the pulley.
