Title: MCI-DL345 Dash Replacement - Company or Provider
Post by: plyonsMC9 on September 16, 2020, 04:01:23 PM
Good afternoon bus folks!

We are looking to replace our mid-90's dash for our conversion-in-progress - almost completed.  Are there suggestions or good experiences for who or what company may be up to that task?  Current dash is showing a lot of 'character'.  (pic is attached).

The bus is in southern California.

Kind Regards, Phil

All I did was skin the original dash with  prefinished veneer oak and it helped the look but not new

Long the same lines, you can use a product like 3M wrap for woodgrain or any number of designs

Isn't there or wasn't there an advertiser on BCM in Los Angeles who made custom dashes?  I remember him from several years back.  Did nice work.

All the money you spent Phil a SilverLeaf  glass dash is in order you would enjoy the SilverLeaf  dash

   HI;
      Try Custom Panels. They used to be advertisers in BCM. Giive them a call @ (704)985-0171.  If they are no
      longer in business, then they can tell you who is.
                                                         Good luck,  Merle.   :D

If I was changing dashes in a D I would go for the J4500 dash from Caylor.the glass dash from Silver leaf would be my 1st choice,my coach didn't come with the SliverLeaf like some but it's on the list for next year

Thank you for all the feedback and suggestions!  We're in touch w/ custom instrument panels and will post back how that works out.  We're down to our last couple of weeks to have the bus finished and ready for testing @ LCW.  We worked a long while w/ Silverleaf, but in our case, it was going to be over $7k, and very little additional functionality available due to our version of DDEC.   Silverleaf actually hinted that it in our case it may not be the best match.  Probably a little newer DDEC technology & then maybe?  Or - maybe upgrade DDEC and dash later.  Or not.

Also talked w/ Joe Maser and he agreed that we would not be getting the best return based on what the Silverleaf could do in our case.  Though of course it would look amazing.   The current dash is dark and gauges are hard to read.  I'll check out the J4500 dash from Caylor. If the custominstrument panel dash isn't in-progress it may be a good option.  Again, thank you to all the helpful ideas.  :)

With kind regards, Phil
