Title: Quartzite
Post by: chessie4905 on September 13, 2020, 04:11:55 PM
Never paid attention much to the posts about Quartzite. Appeared to just be several coaches meeting in the desert in the middle of winter here and about same distance as driving to the moon. I saw an FMCA post about it the other day with a sky view. Wow! Had no idea it was that large a gathering, as large as an FMCA annual convention.

It is a lot larger than a FMCA convention most of the time the people leave the Indio FMCA rally and meet up with friends there,it is huge for a couple of months and you can buy about anything there

I think FMCA convention peaked at 6000 in late 80's or early 90's. I'm sure it is now at two thousand or less if you don't start counting travel trailers now.

Has anybody heard what Q will be like this winter due to COVID? I'm thinking the actual show will follow the standard safe distancing and face mask sort of guidelines but what else? Hate to go there and nobody shows up. LOL

We are still planning on the Flxible, Eagle, GM, and BCI rallies.  The BCI (Bus Conversion International) rally will be held at the same place as last year just east of Rice Ranch North.  However because Rich Ranch North itself closed down this spring, the location of the GM and Eagles rallies is still up in the air but will be happening.  Updated info on all rallies will be posted on our Events page: https://www.busconversionmagazine.com/events/

Yeah, it is a pretty big deal as you can see in this flyover.  However, this year, I expect to see less than half of the usual number of rigs there.

Would be really surprized if it wasn't like always at the tent anyway. Very crowded, lots lots lots of people everywhere and venders too.
Its nice where all our buses generally park and could be safe there.

Well, that's not particularly reassuring. It seems any event would need to comply with current health directives even out in the open. Is there a formal name for the main vendor event?

We don't normally go till just after New Year. So the border might be open by then...?  I can't see how social distancing would be possible in that crowded tent at Q. Or even in the streets. Although there might be less people this year. We'll see...
