Hi All, I'm having some Nano Carbon Ceramic Window film installed on the windshields of the Italian Greyhound. Its advertized as rejecting 70% of the heat and light thru the windshield. With the record breaking heat in the southwest, seems like the right thing to do. I'll note how its doing on a trip soon. lvmci...
The manufactuer.
Let me know how it works,I need to have my windshield replaced first, I went to get fuel and something few off a truck and smacked mine lol I bet the windshield is going to cost at least 4k
Cliff hope you had glass coverage
Cliff hope you had glass coverage
I will, the only problem so far, was trying to move the MCI into and out of their bay...
Hi Tom,
Ceramic tint does an good job of reflecting radiant heat. Some brands are better than others, I alway liked 3M, but there are other quality brands.
Matt
Is the film installed on the outside or inside of the glass.??>>>Dan
Hi Dan,
It is installed just like regular tint, on the inside. The tint film has a layer of ceramic deposited on it to reflect heat that comes through the glass.
Matt
Sorry Cliff. They say that when it rains, it pours. Tough past 30 days. Hang in there. Hope Sonia is doing well.
Thanks Matt,, I was thinking that if on the outside it would potentially help resist chipping the glass..>>>Dan

When I get the new windshield installed I am going to have the Diamond Shield installed,It's a little pricey but so is the time and my deductible , the glass guy came to day to get the number from it, the friggn windsheild cost $5800.00 installed lol but he is going to wave my $100.00
Hi Matt, the brand I chose was rayno window film by Phantom automotive service, they have a higher reflectivity of heat and sun then even the 3M brand, in the comparison that I showed in the second photo. that's why I chose them, 844-RAY-FILM...
Dan, LV PRO TINT did a really good job of cleaning the windshields in and out, took about 2 1/2 hours for my large windshields, but their shop wasn't designed for large RVs, they have a 14' bay, but there was an light pole island too close to the roll up door, which required a lot of maneuvering to get the bus in and out...
They have a lot of grades of tint, all the way to what they call limo, I chose clear, because of it being on the windshield...
Thanks LV,, I am primarily interested in the ability to reject small stones that cause chipping.
The last two years have been hell when in construction zones,, fortunately I have a two piece windshield..>>>Dan
Nice Tom, that should make a noticeable difference.

Nice! Been wanting to do my windshield, good news is now I have till next spring to do it now that we are winter bound. There has been some really good vibes on the POG sites about that stuff. Did you get any extra material incase you ever have to replace a windshield outta state? just a thought. ;)
Hows the coach holding up? :)
Van, I am unsure windshields are legal to tint, that's why I chose no tint. Gary got his little Mini Cooper done and it was great.
Bus is doing good, we just got back from the Mountains, with those big winds with toad, and did good going thru the Gorge.
Didn't think to get extra...
A lot of the better window tinting outfits sell this.
In most states the official answer is that you cannot tint your windshield however cops are only looking for dark tint. If anyone asks you you can say it is a protective coating and they aren't going to want to waste their time for a ticket they will lose in court.
The laws are all over the place and to keep things more confusing most modern cars come with glass that is technically illegal in most states but is allowed because it is OEM. Nobody can give me an answer as to why aftermarket tint is any different than OEM in a safety perspective.
Here is AAA list of states with allowable tint. I don't know if this pretains to an rv.
