Title: High shift points
Post by: Jim Eh. on August 09, 2020, 12:56:03 PM
I seemed to detect a higher than usual shift point on my 740 last time out on a run. I checked the oil level running and hot and seemed to be O.K. By high shift point I mean it would not shift into top gear  until around 40-50 m.p.h.
If I travel above city street and below highway speed it seemed I would stay in a lower gear (noted higher RPM - (no tac)

Attached are the troubleshooting pages for a 740

That sounds about right for your 741D ATEC ,maybe Bill has a ATEC 741D he can post the shift points ,the shift points on the 741 are controlled by the electronics

In the post it mentioned 740. I didn't read the signature showing a 741. I have a V731 so a different animal.

I will check the 741 manual Bill for him tonight but recall it is somewhere between 1750 and 1800 rpm

The final shift for a V731 is around 35 to 40 mph so I would imagine the 741 is the same or close.

The higher shift point is something new. Last time I had it out (prior to my battery issue) the shifting seemed fine and at a lower RPM. Is it possible for some kind of reprogramming to have occurred because of the fluctuation in my electrical system? I have a prolink but have not had anytime to connect it. Could I get any info about the trans settings from the prolink? Shooting at straws here.
BTW, the shifts (when they do occur) are as firm as they used to be.

Huggy with the v730 shifts at 45 up or down according to the gps.

Always let her roll down hill to keep her from down shifting on the rolling hy.ways in the south.

The manual doesn't show MPH,the shift from 3L to 4th is 1535 rpm to 1585 rpm and those are done under full throttle  2000 to 2100 rpm

My seat tach says the RPM is around 1500-1600 but I can't be sure. Not sure what you mean't by "those are done under full throttle  2000 to 2100 rpm" though.

.I wouldn't worry about it driving seems to make electrical problems on a ATEC go away  ::)
