OK you guys living in CA with old buses CARB has their amination now because of the Apple Fire, they are loaded and will be coming soon I bet you cold one of your choice
The only time I've seen flaming particles shoot out the exhaust on an older diesel it was the flaming nuts being shot out the tailpipe of my Webasto after a rodent made it into a food storage vessel.
What kind of malfunction has to happen for particles the size of a marble to shoot out the tailpipe of a diesel?

Carbon build up on the 2 strokes they do shoot out some particles any old diesel even a generator engine will build up carbon,I have been in some parks where generators without a spark arrester muffler wasn't allowed
So excessive black smoke leads to carbon buildup? Rolling coal is how the younger guys refer to black smoke from pickups. I always kept an eye on my tail pipe to see if i had smoke or just heat coming out of it.

There are 2 or 3 different stories I thought the bus fire was started by a blow out on the double decker bus anyways the neighbor across the street is a captain in CHP I'll ask him when he comes homes from there
Nope story just changed on the news. They said it was sparks from the tailpipe, so yep carbon but the bus was not old enough to have a two stroke. If they mess with us we will just come live in your yard. :)
Seriously NOT gonna happen. They done mauled up the transportation industry here already. They are growling but don't expect much other than whimpers as more vehicles go EV. Yes, and that IS going to happen sooner rather than later. :^
Oh goodie. Yet another good reason to get out of Kalifornia--now I just have to convince the wife!?! Jack
CABB wants all diesels gone, diesel trucks haven't been allowed in the ports now for several years. You have to feel kinda sorry for the guy when they locate him he will go through hell
Have you seen the difference in LA without all the cars and trucks on the road during the Pandemic. The air is clear or was until the fires. ;)
The only way RV and our bus conversions, don't lose our exemption, is if someone is minding the store...
Who is advocating on our behalf?
How much of their backing comes from the manufacturers... how little from cheap @$# busnuts who won't even pay the yearly membership...
So, who was minding the store the last time, and who is minding it now?
Not good putting the fox in charge of the henhouse...
If they start, it will take hell and beyond to stop 'em now, we stand on very thing ice with our old engines...
Or just bitch online like a bunch of over the hill, out of touch, lazy old farts, and get run over?
Happy coaching!
