So has anyone attempted staying an 8 v92 for a 3406e in an mci bus with ht 740 Allison?
What model mci?
You have driveshaft length challenges when you put an inline 6 into a bus totally designed around a V8.
Also, the clearance for the height of the engine, further back in there, a big re-working of the "back seat" area will be needed.
Not saying it can't be done, but there are compromises, and the u-joints will need close and ongoing attention afterwards.
This is a hobby, it doesn't have to make sense, have some fun?
Happy coaching!

3406E along with Detroit Series 60 and Cummins ISX are considered big block truck engines-and in my opinion way to big for bus use. A better size (plus nearly 1,000lbs lighter) is the Caterpillar C12 or Cummins ISM. Both of which you can pump up to 500hp and 1650lb/ft torque, but are considerably shorter. Good Luck, TomC
It would help if we knew what model of MCI,anything from a C up with rear mounted radiators is not a problem,I have Country Coach Magna RV the 650 HP Cat C-15 was offered in it. I have the ISX Cummins 650 hp 2100 ft lbs of torque and loving it,I liked my 8v92 in my Eagle too when I owned it
If I end up buying a E/J4500 with the Cat and an Allison or ZF, I'll sell them together as a set. Or the ISM. The ISM would be an excellent engine for a smaller coach.
