A friend is finishing up a 4905a and needs to know what the bus sold for new so he can register it. Thanks
What year?
I'm told that my 1974 GMC 4108a sold new for $184K, but that seems high. Hopefully someone has more detailed information.
Not sure why that information is needed - a vehicle that old would have reached maximum depreciation for tax purposes by now.
It's a 1970 . He is trying to get something in writing to take to the registration office
Sounds like an incompetent bureaucrat has their hands on him...
Do not recall ever hearing of needing an original price for a used bus for the registration.
Try a different office?
Happy coaching!

Are there any other kind?
In 1970 the bus would have been under 80G-s ,in 1981 a 40 ft Eagle sold new FOB at Brownsville for $91,000 the Gm's were a little less I have the sells order

That is getting more frequent here in the US for tax reasons .some are even asking for the emission sticker from the engine along with the safety compliance sticker for that year.Kerry sold her Eagle at a junk price because we could not come up with the paper work needed for Az,it getting where states do not want the dirty 2 strokes and single air brake systems on their highways the best I figure
Can't be just buses they have problems with though if they are asking for original sticker price. Lots of older/classic vehicles on the road where finding the original price will be difficult, especially older cars which were imported through legal but non-traditional routes.
Then there are the thousands of classic trucks and military vehicles on the road. They are legal, so there must be a workaround when the original price is unknown. Most states that collect a property tax or other fee based on the vehicle's value only go back so far when asking for prices.

Miltary trucks like a Humvee which I own 2 cannot be licensed for everyday street use without spending big bucks to meet the high way safety standards ,I have ATV tags on mine with limited use.Miltary trucks never had a title it gets interesting trying to get one too
In my case here in Washington state they wanted an appraisal by an RV dealer.

Here In Az if you purchase from private party there is no tax but if buy from a dealer get ready to drop your pants because you are screwed
Are they taxing the vehicle at fair market value? Or, are they using a formula which derives a number from the original purchase price?
Glad we live in a state that no longer has personal property tax for vehicles, just a registration fee.

We don't have personal property tax here in AZ ,mine the sales tax was never paid they had it registered in OR ,WI has a 5% sales tax on vehicle's we have a 4%.I got caught in a trap because the dealer sign the title like it belong to them and it cost me over 15 grand in sale taves lol but plates are cheap
