Has anyone here taken advantage of this opportunity yet? I was wondering how your experience has been.

If you have not taken advantage of it, what is the reason? It seems like a good deal to me but maybe I am missing something.

I decided to look around their site after seeing your first post. Unfortunately it looks like there is a significant markup on most of the things they sell. While this can be acceptable for a brick and mortar store with the convenience of having your parts that day but they really can't get away with that online for long. If I remember correctly the section I was looking at specifically was solar setup parts.

I agree. I priced a few things and even with the discount, the prices are still a bit above other sources. I guess the cost of living in California might have an effect. 20% would be more viable.  ???

I am suprised to hear that you think prices are higher than other sources. I have talked to a couple of people that have ordered from them recenty and found their prices very competitive and that was before they applied the 10% discount.

Can you give me an example of something you priced and where you found it listed cheaper? I would be interested in hearing of what you looked at that was priced higher than from another source.

There may be a few products you can buy cheaper from some place like Camping World when they run their sales and run prices for lost leader items, but generally I found John's prices very competitive and after the discount I think the prices are very good. I also like dealing with them because they know bus conversions very well.

Thanks in advance.

I can't remember what the items were that I compared before, but it looks like whether they have a good deal or not depends on the particular item you price. I should have checked a few dozen items to get a better picture. I priced the Penguin II 13.5 A/C today, and their price was $898.20 with the discount, but it could be had for $861 at Camping World, and $739 at Big Daddy's. On the other hand, the Traveler Satellite by Winegard SK1000 Dish is $1233 with the discount, but sells for around $1650-1700 elsewhere. So, it looks they are competitive on average, and I apologize for inferring otherwise.  :-[

Thanks for your input.  Yes, there may always be a few items that are discounted heavily at Camping World and other large retailers for sales as they can afford to buy truckloads of items and have them delivered to their multiple locations for lost leader item sales. They get a very good price break when they buy 1000 air conditions at a time, but they also have many other items in their store that are marked up significantly so they will make a profit on those marked up items for sure.

John's prices are across the board lower than average as he does not have a store front, he drop ships most things directly from a large distribution warehouse so his overhead is quite low. He  just works out of a 10x10 office and tries to pass the savings directly on to our subscribers.  All subscribers to BCM qualify for a 10% discount on all orders over $50.

Sorry to be picky, but I think the term is "loss leader".

Lots of places that are known for having good prices do not have good prices on everything.  I find that to be the case with Walmart and Home Depot quite a bit.
