I'm testing my tail lights.
This is on a MC-9, I'm pretty sure the lights are not original.
Turn signal: C blinks.
Turn on clearance lights only: A, B, E come on.
Press brakes only: A, B come on bright.
Clearance lights and brakes: A, B are on bright, E goes out.
D never turns on.
Identical behavior on the other side.
I suspect E should simply be a clearance light (and not turn off when I press the brakes), and D should be a brake light along with A and B. I know I can wire them to do whatever I want, but is there a general practice that applies to the functions of these lights? I also know I have to make sure all the bulbs and grounds are good.
All bets are off, that's a dress-up kit on your '9.
Make it do what you want it to do.
The later coaches that the kit resembles, the upper light was brakes only and a lower brake light too, for 4 lights.
Happy coaching!

It turns out D is just a reflector, no bulb. That's not what I would have chosen, but whatever.
