I am looking to see if anyone has experience towing with the 102A3 or similar with the Detroit V6. I dont plan to haul tons of water or cargo. But I have a 2015 F150 that will flat tow with no problems and I would like to be able to take it with me. We also have a ford explorer which can also flat tow but I have to stop every 4-5 hours and drive it to keep the transmission lubricated. The truck is a lariat crew with a 5.5' bed. Just under 5000#.
Also What will I need to do to add a hitch.
I actually just checked the weight on the explorer, only 100# less then the truck.
We used to tow our Toyota Land Cruiser behind our 6v92 bus. No issues. Now we tow our extended length 2015 Ford Expedition behind our 8v92 coach with no issues. We are tuned to 500hp though so that will make a difference.
Before I bought a 2016 F150 I towed my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The jeep weighed about 100lbs less than the F150 based upon actual scale weights. The jeep was towed behind my bus when I had the 6v92. I could definitely tell it was back there, but otherwise it towed fine. I now tow the F150 with my bus after the re-power to a Cummins ISM. The difference I noticed is the F150 pushes the back end of the bus around quite a bit more the Jeep ever did. Days where there is a good cross wind are the worst and tends to make the bus a little harder to keep going straight. Otherwise, the F150 tows just fine. (Note: I towed both the Jeep and F150 with the Cummins engine. I can't feel the difference in weight at all.)
Does towing a vehicle flat affect your turns at all? I feel like the tail swing on the bus would keep it out a bit. I have a few tight turns getting out onto the main road.
I suppose my wife could just drive it until we make it to the highway and then we could hook up.
6V-92TA was put in trucks. I had a '79 GMC Astro (cabover) with 6V-92TA and 7spd. It was a bit slow over 65,000lbs, but that was rare pulling furniture. It just didn't care. Good Luck, TomC
I've never noticed any change in turning radius when towing a vehicle.

Truck generally tracks behind the bus really well on turns. No issues there. But if we are in a tight spot, we just take the 2 minutes unhook and rehook down the road a bit.
